Default Replacing the VV carb on escort

Hi all,

Want to change the VV carb on my mk4 escort for something different. its a valencia 1097cc valencia engine.

Someone told me that I can stick a carb from a mk1 escort and it can have better fuel consumption.

what your opinion?

You are not going to beat the VV for fuel consumption if it's in good order, there are other carbs such as the 26/28TLDM also fitted to the 1100 escort, you could also use the 32DFT fitted to the XR2 mk1(1300) with a suitable manifold.

The only thing that normally goes wrong with the VV is the diaphragm splits, just take air filter off, pull back the slide and it will either snap back straight away or take a couple of seconds, if it snaps right back when released the diaphragm is split, new one under Ł10, 15 minute easy job to fit.

www.ebay.co.uk
There are two on at the moment, one is Ł6.99 delivered, the other Ł8 plus post, just type in vv carb diaphragm, if you are sure that is the problem.
