Default TV licensing - pain in the a**e

I bought a flat last year that i'm currently doing up to sell. I dont have a tv there and, consequently, dont have a licence. I get a letter every week or so threatening me that if i dont get a license they'll take me to court etc. Anyway, i just throw them in the bin now, rather than open them. The other day i got a post office card saying they couldn't deliver a recorded delivery letter (from tv licensing) cos i have to sign for it. Is there any way i can get them to leave me alone??

If i ring them up and say i haven't got a tv they aren'y exactly gonna say ' oh, sorry. we didn't realise' and leave me alone. They're gonna know someone owns the flat and double thier harrassment.

Any advice welcome. Sure i read a post about this a while back.

cheers.

Fucking jokers, the TV license is a disgrace anyways.

I think we are the only country in the world with it?

With regards to the letter, if you dont go and collect it, it will be returned to the sender after 14 days, so forget about it!!

I'd just ring them and tell them you are a developer, and there is no TV in the building... they will carry on sending letters no matter who lives there mate, nowt you can do about it.

I'm a posty, and every so often we have to fill a form out to say whether there are any new develpments/houses on the round, a mate of mine made up a fictional address, it now gets a Letter every month from the licence people, not to mention loads of junk mail...

Just ring up and tell em to fook off!!!

Can't do anything if you don't have a telly there so they won't have a leg to stand on!!!

Does take the piss tho that we have to pay for such shit!!! As if there isn't enough things to pay for!!!

Thing is....

if you EVER get caught...

U CAN BUYONE OFF THE INSPECTOR there and then and you can't get done for it...

So why does anyone have a TV licence anyway

Because if everyone stopped buying the licence we'd have to watch ITV, Channel Four, and Five for the rest of our lives?

Or pay MUCH more to Rupert Murdoch to watch all the repeats on his Sky thingy.

they will keep sending em till ya pay , if ya smart just keep sending em back

I would rather watch ad's every half-an-hour than pay for that poxy TV Licence.

They are actually quite entertaining.

If you get caught out by an inspector then simply tell him that your mate bought a license that very morning and hasn't got back from the shops yet, then phone/send housemate to buy tv license (can only tell what day it was bought on not what time) and job done

You can also buy one online instantly!

My tele broke last year and as it was summer thought I wouldn't bother replacing it for 3 months.

I was averaging a threatening letter every 2 weeks and when I got a new tele I bought a new license and they backdated it to the date my one expired

A sarcastic letter soon sorted them out, no apology tho
