Default Any tips for sealing a leaking alloy/rim????

Right, joking aside, I got a set of replacement rims and winter tyres for my M5, but one of the rears is leaking and I keep having to pump it up, is there any quick and easy things I can do to stop or minimize it?
Just to be clear, it's definately the rim and NOT the tyre, as these are brand new.

Could be a dirty rim where the tyre seals, might just need the tyre off and clean the rim.
Could be a leaking valve.
Have you had the wheel and tyre in a bath of water (kids paddling pool) to see exactly where it's leaking?

Just cause the tyre is new doesn't guaranteee it's perfect.

Yup if the bead area is stuck with rubber then it will not seal properly. Have you checked the wheel for cracks?

Oops didn't read the whole thread, most wheels can be sorted there is a bloke local to me that's sorted some proper bad dings,

If the tyres have only just been fitted then it will most prob just need the rim cleaning up

Cheers,he came round and picked it up last night and will try and sort it today, i hope it's something simple. He did say he'd put a wheel weight on the inside edge so would remove that and see if that cures it as sometimes they can effect the seal.
Chop, yeah you can easily get wheels fixed/welded etc, let me have a look sometime and i'll be able to reccomend somewhere.
Thanks for the responses.

Just take the wheel off, hold it into a bowl of water and watch for bubbles. 9 times out of 10 it's just the valve leaking.

My dad had a problem with one of his tyres. Eventually they removed the tyre completely and found a raised section of old build-up. They got a flapper wheel in a drill and cleaned off all the old crap from this area.

Hocks on the 3 door would be cool

Roj - I wonder if some tyre foam would be good for a temporary fix?
