yeah thats great thanks,
i replaced the cat as it was rattling.
ive just checked the emissions with vag com and it still shows the lamda as 3.5% so i guess ill have to change the lamdas aswell

Lambda first I would say but then again a 3.5% reading would suggest the cat.Mot centre I go to are 0.2 to pass the idle test,usually no probs and I've taken all sorts there,scoobies,old fords etc etc.

ok thanks guys. its a brand new cat thats been fitted so i guess the lamda sensor/s are dead.
ill swap them with the good ones on my golf and see if it cures the problem.
