New MOT superseed old certificate?
My MOT expires on the 3rd of december. If I put my car in for an MOT a couple of weeks early and it passes, I believe I get a certificate for a year from the original date.
If it fails however, can I still legally drive it (because I still hold a valid certificate) or can I not drive it (because it has been proven unroadworthy)?
Basically the solid lines dont look great. I have no concerns about them as Ive bounced my full weight on the pedal with no ill effect but I dont want to wind up unable to use the car for two weeks till I have time to change them if I submit it. On the other hand a fail sheet with a definitive list of work would be useful!
Cheers

The mot is only valid proof the car was road worthy on the date of issue it doesn't mean the car is road worthy a week later. In short your car is still road legal to the old mot expires hth

Defo what chip said, when I bought a d reg sierra I found many fail points on the car, reported the garage, Jean Paul from ministry came out re mot'd my car then took license off the guy doing the mot's, but I was able to drive on the issued certificate till it ran out, I did question this but was told by the ministry that I defo could, the car wasn't unroadworthy just mot failure, had a hole in the front chassis type section bottom of inner wing big enough to put your fist in.
