Well folks Buster is now at his new home with my sister out in the snowy country.
Was a last min decision on heading down from Aberdeen early hours of today 6am, as i predicted roads especially from Aberdeen to past Dundee were rather bad but i had my sisters little saxo with toyo winter tyres on, bloody good they are too!
Thanks to Matt for meeting me half way, big help that was also you can imagine a 4hr journey with a bloody big Rotty (full of life-still has his balls and on antistress pills) and with strange people.
Anyways sister loves him, he has even started to mark his teratory literately at my sisters on her siting room door.
Oh to Matt he doesnt like sheep! road cones and close passing traffic!!!! He managed to even figure how to open the rear quater window.
Good day plenty of laughs and lots and lots of dog drool, if you could imagine 4hrs with him not once relaxing-or settling down, car felt like it had 3 front seats.
Few pics to finish.

Folks,
Well buster is settling in slowly, loves going for walks, great with my nephew.
But he has his problems that will need kicking into touch, he has a habbit of growling at people and for some reason he hates one of my sisters hubbys pals, constantly growling, but this may be the fact he can smell his own male rotty? he had a little growl at my sis for trying to get my nephews sock off him.
Wont lie on his new mattress bed.lol preferes the sofa which is a no no, he opens the doors himself.
Think into the new year his balls are coming off to see if it helps?
I just think he needs time and put in place, the previous owner said he has never bitten anybody so i will try to be a bit dominant to him once home (not my dog but) and he dont like you going near his paws.
He doesnt like human food as such, which i think is good, and picking up his bowl when he is eating is no problem?
Anyone any suggestion toward him growling? tackling it, what about me raising a hand to see what his reaction is but not physically swinging, problem is he has a bloody massive noggin! telling him off does sometimes work but really doesnt get through to him.
One thing is he is a clever dog.

Good news you have him now but removing the balls wont help calm him down at all!
Only bonus to it is better chance at healthy life later on, mines 3 next year and only having his balls off then as imo they need um to grow up with

Persistance!!!
As you can imagine its a massive thing for a pooch moving home, hes gotta learn all about the new hierarchy, territory, everything!!
There is a fab book out called 'its me or the dog' there was also a TV program called it too, and it is genuinely the best book i have ever read on Common Sense Dog Training and behaviour, and god only knows ive read a few!!
But keep on trying, things genuinely will improve.

good luck with him
i have had three rottys they have a great temperament and a bad reputation. mine have all been very laid back and settled in quickly despite being abandoned and rescued. well worth the hard work for the amount of love they give.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
The growling is it a nasty growl or just a comunication?
I know a few rotties who if you didnt know them would swear they wernt happy but the opposite are happy and wanting attention.........all males btw.
The growling at the sock could be a play thing or him being dominant hard to say without seeing it.
Reward and make a fuss of him for the good and tell off for the bad and i wouldnt be swinging for him as if hes ever been beat could go off......what would you do if sumbody went to swing at you?

He gets rewarded and told off, just time i think plus he has only been in new home 1 week
Wasnt going to swing just lift hand to see his reaction.

There very very clever as i said it could be just him being vocal i swear if you heard one dog in particular youd never believe the growling when you went near him but he was just excited and wanting attention.
Remember hes got a new life now so will take a bit of time to adjust wit new owner/home/rules.
