Default Mondeo TDCi question

Mate has been to look at one and it is noisy on tick over from driver's side of engine. I believe it is a common problem on these and have heard a lot sounding like this. He thinks it might be the bottom pulley or flywheel or something so he has been told. Would this be correct and would it need sorting ? cheeRS

Yes and yes. Drivers side is likely to be the pulleys/tensioner. It's not a cheap fix, and is a proper ball-ache to do, so unless the car's very cheap I'd walk away - there are lots of them to choose from!

It could be either or both, the pulley tensioner or the bottom pulley.
Ive just had my bottom pulley replaced on my tdci and a lot of people though it was tentioner.
Ford actually say that you should replace both, but i wouldnt.

Both cost around Ł100 give or take a tenner.
Both can be a right pain in the bollox to do aswell

If you're already down there, it would make sense to. I know a bloke who knackered two pulleys because of a knackered tensioner.

Tentioner was found to be fine, so didnt bother.

For me its not a big problem anyhow if the tentioner did need doing as i know 2 guys who work for ford and one of them will fit any parts i want as hes a grease monkey for them, very good prices also
