Default Flocked Saff Headlining?

Anyone had it done? need to sort out my saggy mess
Pictures?
im thinking standard light grey colour, dash done at the same time? or would it look ok without? pillar covers done to match?
also need doorcards tidying up, good idea or not?
Will probably ask/use autoflock as they're fairly local

You can't flock the head lining. As the resin/glue they use will crack as you put it back in.

we have done loads of headlinings ranging from linings made from both fibre glass and cardboard. The resin used to it is not a polyester (which tends to cure rigid) but a 3 part epoxy, as we use a 3rd part to this mixture the final cure leaves it with a considerable about of flex. Maybe if I do a few pics of some of the resin fully cured and the amount of flex it allows may give people a bit more confidence in it manipulability (if thats a word? )

anyway if you choose to get it done I would recomend staying away from black, go with a different shade as having it black can make the interior appear very dark, any other shade dark or light would be much better and make the interior a much nicer place to be.

Splitting the interior up into 2 tones is a great way of frshening up the car and bringing back a sence of unifor, roof pillars lover sill panels one colour, main dash, centre trims etc another etc.

Hope this helps

Well you learn something new everyday i asked a flocker a year or so ago to do my headlining and he said no due to the resin cracking.

Would be very interested in having this done what sort money would a saff roof lining cost.

Thanks for the info.

cheers,
Phil

slightly old thread this
but interesting all the same.

I retrimmed the headlining myself, only cost a few quid from Martrim in sandbach and a few tins of spray glue, it came out pretty good really, although if it sags again i'll give you a ring Raj.

Simple answer to that phil, cheap resin, polyester resin has next to no flex and hads very poor conduction properties, epoxy is the opposite, has great conductivity and the rigity can be controlled by the mix combination/ratio.

My polyester resins cost £16.00 for 5 ltr
My main flocking epoxy costs £40 for 1 ltr

hell of a difference.

A saph lining is £100 for the flocking, pretty muich the standard price for most cars. If the lining is the cardboard style then it will need to be laminated first to give w true finish, this is an additional £50 but I would be happy to advise anyone on how to do it, there is nothing technical to it just labour and about £20 woth of materials.

Sorry for not getting back to you had a few technical issues,

anyway to do the door cards on a saph it involved quite a bit of work. Firstly the existing material has to be removed, then the adhesive, this will then expose the cardboard shell. This then has to be laminated and sanded smooth, once thisa is done they can be flocked.

Our price just for the flocking is £44.99 per card
The price for the prep work if needed is £39.99 per card

The prep work can be done by yourselves and we can advise you of the process to help people save a few quid as the fee is mostly for labour, the laminating resin is £30 and the time it takes is approx 2 hrs per card as a guide.

Hope this helps
