Default Indicator problem (Cossie)

Hi guys my saph has been off the road for 3 weeks due to an irritating indicator problem, the left indicator goes mad when you click it on, the dash starts going mad i even had the dash smoking the other day which was not good i changed the flasher relay and all was good for about 10 mins then back to normal. my reverse lights have now gone but not sure if thats a separate issue. when i click the alarm to open the car the indicators dont flash, but the they work on the hazards. any ideas?? dont say new fues box

indicators and reversing lights are on the same circuit/fuse. I had a problem with mine and it was a short by the reverse switch on gearbox. But sounds like you have a wiring problem behind your dash if it was smoking there. Have a check of the wires and make sure the insulation hasnt been worn through by it rubbing on something.
