I bought mine from Burton Power, was around Ł800 from memory.
Honestly though, Zetec blocks have run to 600bhp in standard form. Also, buying a new CGI block it will be 'green' and not have the benefits of heat cycling etc.

This is the thing...the unknown!
Lend me your block please young Will

Luke,
I also hear that your machine guy won't thank you as any machining will blunt their cutters due to the hi carbon content.
Not sure they are a straight swap over with water pumps and stuff but I might be wrong.
Why not just liner a standard high mile block? Are you building another engine?

There was one on eBay a couple of weeks ago, came with crank, pistons, rods, bore liners and the spacer plate for the head and some other bits, was going for
1500, I will see if I have it in my watching list on there

hi luca , ians cousin worked for cosworth and when they finished the wrc program he got a lorry load of parts for a grand , 8 wrc blocks , 12 inlets , wrc wastegates etc . i was going to buy one but when looking at the block he said that there was that much machining and custom parts to fit and build he simply said it aint worth the hassle. like dan said just liner your standard block. my engine made 522bhp @30 psi in 2006 and theres only paul johnson who has bettered that with the same amount of boost and that was only a few months ago. iam sure you realise there are more mods and parts that have advanced in the last 4 years. 600+ bhp is acheivable more easily with the new parts available
cheers paul

I warned my machinist about this and when I went to pick it up he said it had machined as normal
There are two CGI blocks available - one is a direct replacement for the Zetec E block (blacktop) - water pump in same place etc. Only missing one boss on the rear for a knock sensor as i found.
The other one is the heavily externally machined version that was used as a WRC block. that had all non used bits machined off to reduce weight, then it had about 15mm machined off the deck height, wet liners installed and then a space plate to go over the top of the liners - wouldn't even consider trying to build one of these unless you've got a complete WRC engine spares package!!
Nothing concrete yet just looking into options plus the perks of going with the CGI block.
Have found one now, just awaiting on details before I make any decisions.
Thank you for the response

at the same boost 30 psi iam hoping for around the same but iam going upto 35psi so i want 600+ bhp, this would be very nice lol but we will have to see. i ran out of injector last time with only 4 and only a mild inlet cam.
now we have 8 injectors , dry sump , new inlet and both inlet and exhaust cams are going a tad more aggresive
so i will see you next year , knowing my luck it will probably go pop
cheers paul

how strong can this stuff?(as a factory)
the silver top already powerful as black top...
can someone cracked block or crank???
I have already done several times 13-14K RPM.......(a few seconds)
but can not find fault..

Not round brum way by any chance? i knew a lad and his mates had a load of gear like that a few year back! might have a pic some where.. was like aladdins cave lol
yep going to ians first in the new year so we can look at machining the block and head for m12 studs then if possible it will be off to mk motorsport for the machine work then to your old mans as personally i think hes one of the best if not the best and we had a right laugh last time. hoping for around feb / march time
cheers paul
no he lived in huntingham way on i think, but i think i may know of the bloke your on about as i wanted a wrc exhaust manifold and someone put me in touch with him, he had loads but wanted Ł900 so i built my own

I know of at least one engine that's dyno'd over 600bhp on a standard Zetec block...
Luke - if you really want to spice things up. PM me. I've just about finished sorting out a stroker kit that will take normal aftermarket Zetec rods, pistons, bearings etc. but will take capacity to just over 2.2 and still safely rev to 8000rpm
