Default What could be causing high emissions....

One of me missus' colleagues has a Fiat Seicento and its just failed the MOT on emissions. They said they can't trace it?!! Any ideas what could cause the high emissions except for the Cat and Lambda Sensor?

Going by that reading's i would say the catalyst aint hot enough and is not working properly yet.

The tester has bypassed the engine temp so cant see how warm the engine actaully is.

The readings are not terribly high and would probably be a lot higher if the catalyst was goosed !

Make sure its had a good hard run before getting tested again as most times a high CO reading is due to the engine not being hot enough.

If you have it roasting hot and it fails again your probably looking at a new catalyst.

I concur. Is this a car used primarily for short journeys by any chance?

I think she travels about 10 miles each way to work? I wouldnt want to travel any further in something that small!!!! Is it worth her replacing the cat? She said this morning that if its going to cost too much she may as well sack it in and buy a new car?!
