Default 330D re-map

As there is now more BMW's on here than Ford i thought this would be a good place to ask lol. Just bought a 330d 05 plate (204 bhp version), where is best to go for a re-map. Done a quick Google and came up with Evolution Chips ( is that Stu ?) or E-maps.

Im near Peterborough, closer the better really.

Cheers.

Ah thats good then, my only worry is that my nearest installer for Evo chips is some digital dash repair company i.e someone who will clock your motor for a few quid, and there is only a mobile number on there site. I dont want to turn up at some traveler site to find some pikeys eating hedgehogs and leave with my car running on 3 cylinders putting out 5 bhp. Or would they plug something in and Stu does all the work from his end ?

As said above Stu is your man at MSD. The important stuff on the chip will the work of Stu and the team, the installation however will be down to the technician installing it. Im not sure how BMW are reflashed or even if they have to use a piggy back, but your best plan of action is to give MSD a ring and ask them about the installer in question as they may have to meet certain criteria to become an evo chip installer etc.

Hope this helps

how much power can you expect to gain from a pre-facelift version - my bro in law has one and im trying to convince to get it remapped?

Distance isnt an issue as there are a few MSD dealers near me, BobbySingh and AlexF for example

Sorry to jump on the thread but I've been thinking of doing the same but on a golf mk5 r32, how much difference is there gonna be between a live map and just the chip in both price and performance?

Yes from what I have heard the BMW Diesels respond well, should also have better MPG as well (I think it's part of the seven day money back guarantee by MSD) The way I understand it is the OE map is read and then sent to MSD, they then remap it and send back to the Evo chips installer where they flash the ECU via handset with the new map so the "Installer" really is just as the name suggests, I'm sure Stu or James will only be to pleased to confirm but in any case the place you talk of doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence!
