Default my launch problems, answer inside :)

its been bugging me what im doing wrong after turnover, paulo etc saying launch hard so ive just been out and done it. no faffing about with the clutch just 7k revs clutch bite and then let her go and done the quickest 0 - 60 ive ever done

il be honest that is the first time ive launched a car with absolutely zero mechanical sympathy and i loved it

anyways i took the gtech for comparisons and it shows just how much i can gain on the rubbish launches ive been doing.

i think i may have to trailor the car to pod next time so as its not in my mind that ive got to get home in it, if i can just do what ive done at pod i think i should manage a mid to low 11 as the 1.7 60ft i did felt proper quick from in the car.

ive got an electronic hurst roll control line lock on the way from america aswell so i will be able to flick her in rwd and do a burnout to

thats better mate and i believe you should run 11.5s or better,to be honest if you have a good clutch the gearbox,s are very strong and have often had 750hp thrown through one for over a year of track and drag ,So you should be ok

i learned something else earlier aswell i dont need to load it up on the handbrake i can do it without just hit 7k, find clutch bite then lift left leg and drop the hammer.

i did a hard loading it up on the handbrake once and got bad clutch slip when i pulled away i must of overheated it, i done 4 launches after that though and it didnt slip so no damage done.

going by the time i lost that run could of technically been an 11.4
i think the only answer is a trailer so i dont granny launch it again lol

1.7 0-60ft times will help massively and that is a huge improvement and you should see better with a properly prepared surface on a good warm day You must have been chuffed with the way it launched

i just hope it doesnt brake when i do it at pod

its the front diff i worry about failing and potentially taking the engine with it

Awesome launch mate, wish my S14 could launch like that. Probably do another gearbox trying to launch like that.

Jump your left foot from the clutch to the brakes quick as while your right foot is flat to the floor. RWD burnout, no line lock need.

i dont wana do that mate as it just loads up the rear brakes like that and strains the clutch and well everything imo as it cant be helped that the rear brakes will be on a bit, proper hurst roll control kit is on its way from the states so its all good

Massive reduction in the 0-60fts and 0-60mph!!

I would bet 90% of people will never ever do the quoted 0-60 from the manufacturer because they are scared to break it!

you should be able to do hard launches and drive the car home as the std transmission is pretty dam strong, my mates at 608bhp on std gearbox and he launched his off the limiter everywhere

and to go rwd isnt it just a case of pulling the abs fuse out?

yes mate i got it on a switch already and got line lock ordered, the other option is get a pair of mickey thompson streets for the back and just drag race in rwd, its a possibility as the front diff does worry me a bit if it explodes and takes the sump with it

i do agree but thats like cossis aswell, though the skyline stuff is a hell of a lot stronger, i dont know anyome with a skyline who hs destroyed a front diff, ive seen them destroy os gearboxes but not a diff, its also a reason im looking into see if one can be modded to fit on a cossie sump

To be honest with you the front driveshafts are the weak link in the transmission so you're more likely to break one of those before the diff One of my mates broke a front driveshaft at the pod the week after I ran it at Shakespeare I wasn't launching it because I didn't want to break it 2 weeks before Time Attack so he broke it one week before Time Attack and 2 days before my trackday at Brands lol Abbey soon fixed it though

its definitely worlds apart from the cossie drivetrain, i mashed loads of 2wd rear diffs and the skyline has seen more hard drivetrain hard work than all my cossies put together and touch wood nothing has broken yet ! fingers crossed

that was the problem mate i think with launching at 4k it wasnt seeing hardly any boost, it does at 7k though i saw 1.9 bar spike on the 0 - 60 mph in 3.3 seconds run

My mates escos was running 12.0 at pod with 2.0 60fts he chucked me the keys and said have ago I said I dint want to break it mate! He said f.%k it I'm not botherd !

I held it at 6k and side steped the clutch!

Which resulted in a 1.7 60ft and an 11.6 1/4 mile!!

I'd say just go for it on your next outing at the pod!!

Not uncommon for a gain at the 60ft marker in terms of time saved to equate to something in the region of 150% of that gain off the ET

Ie taking 3 tenths off a 60ft can take 4 or 5 tenths off the ET in most cases.

cool about where i should be at then as im abit heavier

does he come on here at all mate ?

his terminal and weight also comes out pretty accurate on my chart from rips

add 0.5 to the et as its not a drag car and 119 mph and 11.6 comes in at 400 whp which would be about right working on 1400 kg with driver
