Default 225/40/18 on a saph

on a 8j wide wheel, et 42 ( but with a 5mm spacer so effectivly et37 )

How much trouble am i going to have getting them on my 4x4 saph ?

I would go down too a 215/35/18 but if i dont have to change the tyres i dont want too.

Cheers

Tried a set of Comps from an escos on my sapphire, tyres were 225/40/18, no chance of fitting on mine, to wide and to big

The escos offset is quite different to the saph offset though.

Any other opinions

Tyres were too large to fit the arches correctly

Heres how they looked tho.
So liked the look of them, want some sapphire fitment ones.
You would need 215/35/18 tyres to fit.

Look how much that front sticks out!

Alex, you have coilovers, so just adjust the height?

Just bought myself an arch roller lol

James, I would but my fronts are rusty and shit and I can't undo the locking screws otherwise I would. ( see wanted thread for coilovers lol )

Jason, do you know what offset they were, look at least et20.

I had 215/35/18 tyres on my last set of 18s but this have come with 225/40 so want to try and use them if I can

Don't the 3doors have larger arches?

Would still mean a change of tyres though lol

They have arches that look wider yes but its not useable wheel clearance space.

Fair enough Martin, I thought you could actualy fit larger tyres in on the 3doors.

Think I'm going to end up sticking these tyres up for swaps

I'd have to measure a Sapphire to be sure what the difference is but we tried my front ET35 8x18 Monte wheels with 225/35 tyres on a Sapphire and they fitted a treat .... The guy ordered a set instantly

I think the 225/40 tyres would probably need quite a bit of arch work to clear.

A quick calculation shows there's there's just over a 2cm difference in diameter between the 35 &40 profiles. So if the 35 just fit I'm going to have a fair bit of cuting to do as you say Martin. Cheers.

Anyone want to swap lol

On my 3 Door the tyres were 235/40/17, fitted fine.
Width is ok, just the profile will be the issue

I am with the similar problem , i want fit a 18" in the sapph but not in 215. I prefer 225x40x17 that 215x35x18, if are possible fit the 18" with 225" in sapp will be a nice option!

What is the best option for nice handle ?

I have bigger than that on the rear, i would not change from 17's on the front as it changes the handling.

Heres 235/40/18

& 225/40/19

The arches need completly to be cut away to get these on but worth it IMO.

Nope ... I even did track days without any problems, ... two things I did forget is car is lowered and that the rear end has been altered a little .. dont know how to explain ... but if you look at the pic's the angels on the rear wheels are more upright than normal on a lowered sapp.

Interesting thread this, I'm sticking with 17" and 225/45 X17 front and 235/45X17 rear, methinks some big hammer marks on the arches will help ?, this is on a 7J rim etc 36.
Haven't fitted/tried yet so don't know whether need to mill away some inside lug face yet or not.

Well I've just had a quick roll of the arches and I think the rears will fit but the fronts are so likely. Just waiting for a newer set of front coilovers to turn up so I can raise the front alittle... there maybe a chance of them fitting altthough on the front its very very close to the coilover
