Default Engine run in, honed bores.... please look.

right, as some of you know i had head gasket failure so took the head of on sunday, now when i was cleaning up the block, if you look in the bores you can still see the marks from where its been honed, this seems to be from new and the engine has done about 50k miles.

should you still be able to see them???

i would have thought it would be all smooth by now???

so, what im getting at is, if the engine was run in for 1000 pussying about, is that why there are still the marks?

and if it was taken easy for the first 100 miles, then cained to death would have worn in better and the marks gone??

your views please

If you cant see the honing your bore is worn out!!!!!

They should stay there!

You don't run the "bore" in as such... what happens is you knock off any high spots of the bore (unlikly) and bed the rings into the shape of the bore.
