Sorry for the rant people!! Just need to sound off a bit (and hopefully my 'mate' may see this and notice how fucked off I am!!!)
![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif)
A little while back I had a mondeo for sale which one of my good mates said he wanted as he was having trouble with his car and said he would like to have the car. His only problem was he had just lost his job and was also going through a divorce so he didn't have a pot to piss in. Now I didn't need the money but needed rid of it so seeing as he was a good mate I said just take it and pay me once you're earning again.
He said yes and that he appreciated it. He eventually picked up the car and then said he didn't have any money to tax it so I stuck 6 months rent on it for him and just added it to what he owed me.
Now this was roughly April/may time last year when all this was going on and he now has a permanent full time job and incidentally earning quite a bit more
than I am!!!
So far I have only had a little bit of cash off him despite asking him numerous times to sort me out!! Everytime I ask him all I get is 'well I'm fucking skint aswell! You'll get it next month ok?!!' !!!![fume](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/fume.gif)
Last time we met up he was on about buying a Mondeo ST220!! I think he needs to pay for the one he's got first!!!![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif)
Now were not talking thousands, just a few hundred but it really ain't the point!!
I only did this for him as he was a good mate (wouldn't have done otherwise) and up shit creek without a paddle but can't help feeling that he's mugged me off.
Oh well!! I know what to next time someone asks me to help them!!

Not good mate.
I did similar a while back with a fiesta i had - my mate wanted it but didnt have the money so we agreed he would pay me monthly - which he did and all was good.
Go round and take something of value to him if he keeps fobbing you off.
Or Slap the cunt

I just feel like he's taking the piss now.
I wouldn't have minded so much if he let me know every now and then that he hasn't forgotten but when I've got to chase all the time just fucking winds me up!!!![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif)
I wanna get my engine back asap so could really do with it!

Being the registered keeper doesn't constitute being the legal owner - they are two totally different things.
Incidentally, it is still your car as he has failed to pay for it. If I were you I'd let him know the amount is due by a specific date, if he fails to pay, go and collect your car.

He's not called Chris is he this mate of yours? He sounds exactly like a friend of mine i lent money to in good faith - took me months and months of banging on about it before i saw a penny back!!

You did him a favour which he obviously hasn't appreciated....lesson learnt i guess ![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Secondly, nothing bloody worse than loaning someone money and having to 'ask' for it back....shouldn't have to feel like the cunt for asking for it, should be offered to you before it gets to that stage!!
He's taken the piss and you'll know to NEVER help him again.

Bang out of order. I've only ever had to borrow off a mate once to get me out of trouble. The day I got paid I got an envelope went straight to the cash point and withdrew what I owed him + Ł20 as thanks and took it straight round to his place before going to work. He got me out of a spot, prompt repayment was the very least I could do.

You got an invoice from when you bought the car?
Threaten to take him to court? The threat alone should speed him along...
