Thats not spacing the coilover away from the body isit? I thought a few packimg washers on the inside part of the beam where the coilover bolts into would work but have no idea how to get the apacers in there

That's exactly what you have to do, make up spacers or use washers, to get the coilover away from the body

And how exactly do i fit the washers where the rubber bush fits in as its a very tight fit for the bush alone without the spacer

We are talking about the bottom of the coilover bolting to the back of the trailing arm? I thought most coilovers were like a thin rosejoint type of end? Probably wrong

What coilovers do you have?

i dont think you'd be able to fit anything in their as the coil over is a snug fit.

i used a hammer but you said you dont want to do that do you?

I've had gaz and avo, both have been bushed so no chance of washers in there as there is no space

it only need a salight fettle onmost anyhow, ive modifed my inner arch to clear the coil over

on my escos i have gaz golds which are rose joint bottoms an come with 2 different length spacers on each coilover, even with them pushed out they still rub so they got smacked with the hammer

theonly way to cure it is to take the shock mount off the beam and weld it into a new position

If I recall correctly the bottom mount is not in line like the top mount, it's at a angle to the centre line of the car, so spacing won't work anyway, take care with the hammer and you won't crack the paint or notice anyway, use the ball of one hammer and hit with another.

The bottom of my Gaz coilovers have bearings that are off centre. these move the mount towards the wheel by a few mm. It's not enough. I haven't used a hammer on the inner arches and there are scuff marks where the spring has rubbed. You could just take this option - no dents needed, and a little bit of paint lost.

My Avos used to catch, used a 10lb club hammer and cold chisel for the small adjustment that was needed!!

i have had both types of coilover too and iirc its only the nearside that needs a bit of massaging.doesnt need beaten to death, just a few taps in the right place!

the newer ones are like this and have the top mount at a slight angle to move the whole thing out slightly, not much use though if you have the other type
