v6 cosworth in standard form like mine in a sapphire will give you 220bhp and 234ft of torque which is a lot of fun
you can at a turbo or turbos running 7psi of boost with no internal modifications to engine which should see 300bhp with reliability
With yb the sky and the bank balance will be the limiting factor
i have both in my v6 and the 16v yb

the way i look at it is for the money the 24v is amazing, and super reliable.
unless i had 3k+ to spend i wouldnt go near a yb as when something goes wrong its costly.
as capri280 said bolt a turbo on and your seeing 300bhp on low boost

cost against bhp increase..
my yb all in will have cost me 2,5k for that I will have 360/370 bhp
it's a bolt in conversion that is in every cossie so parts are easy to get.
to turbo the 24v I'm in a minority and parts/fabrication is going to be a pain and expensive, plus I will get a few bob back from selling my boa,g box, stainless exhaust, and wiring/ecu
a no brainer in my book.

You all know my opinion! a v6 24v will give 300+ bhp and 400lbft of torque, with minimal lag and good reliability much cheaper then a yb, yes its heavier, but it is much more cost effective between the 3-400 bhp band, and realy who runs this much power in a yb on a DAILY basis? the v6 can be used every day at 350 bhp no worries at all

whats the best gearbox for it? he cant decide whether to get a performance kit that will make the type 9 stronger but prob not much of an improvement and with lower ratios
OR
an mt-75 if he can find it
OR
an adaptor-plate from topboss for the t5 gearbox which i think would be better as youd be able to get it turbo'd and converted all at once.
hes heard that the adaptor plates are crap....

i chose the v6 ratios as i needed taller ratios for the turbo v6 (high torque) got the rev limmiter set at a safe 6k. As for the clutch, im 6ft 2, and 14 1/2stone i can manage the cable clutch lol

seen that in your thread definately a good idea.
im using a rebuilt mt75 v6 just as im staying 4wd, should do the job
no pas, then we'll judge ya lol

a yb is about 1500 quid against a 300 quid v6, plus if you put forged pistons in a v6 you will get more bhp than a yb, its 50 percentbigger, with 50 percent more cylinders, why do drag cars use v8s and not 2 litre four pots? they are not restricted by bttc rules, neither am i, so i will use the biggest engine i can find, and turbo that. YBs are fine, done get me wrong, just i think they are a bit dear for what they are.
