Default Actuator PreLoad

I'm having an absolute ball ache fitting a new -34 actuator to my series 2 in direct replacement of my knackered -34.

I've set the waste gate rod closed and lined up the actuator arm so that it is roughly about 3-4mm shorter. i.e if you look through the hole on the actuator arm you can just about see a half moon shape of the waste gate rod.

Problem is I can't for the life of me stretch the arm over the wastegate rod as there is way too much tension - I can barley budge it.

Any one have any easy ways of doing this?? I did think about removing the pipe from the actuator and forcing air to a certain pressure to enable me to slip the arm over the rod easily. Problem is however I cannot find an adapter that will fit my pump (dont have a compressor) and that would also be compatiable with the size of the intake pipe on the actuator rod.

Anybody have any suggestions - Im at my wits end and my hands are covered battered and brusied from the pleasure of mole grips slipping off the actuator arm.

if you can grip the rod end with mole grips, it makes it easier to push (thats if you are not doing that already)

i had a piece of pipe with a bike tyre valve jubalee clipped in and used to use petrol station tyre pumps when i was younger and messing with my boost..

Cheers mate - managed to get my pocket rocket bike pump over nozzle over the intake on the actuator and set it that way. Got about a whole hole of preload and boosting 20psi nicely. Cannot believe how easy it is using forced air to do it. 5 min job.

thats whatsyou need to do, apply pressure to the reference pipe on the actuator and slowly increase it untill you can just slip it over.
