You generally dont use sealant on any gaskets Dave, thats why you have a gasket

You only need a surface sealant where you have metal to metal joints or some surface imperfection you cannot remove. Your YB should just need it on the sump. Dont be tempted to smear other gaskets with it unless its on joining faces, IE where gasket meets gasket or seal.
And make sure the rear cap is sealed properly or she will piss oil into the bellhousing.... at best

As Stu has said in general use of silicone sealant is not required where a gasket is to be used! Cam covers should need nothing else other than a new paper gasket from Ford or a cometic type.

there are way more sealants than you will ever know about , and the colour means shit !!
diff manufacturers use diff dye colurs for diff types,
and whilst were talkin about silicone, certain types dont work with oil ! beware !!

Chris Honeywell ,
Why does'nt the 4wd have a sump gasket but the 2wd one has a cork type???
because the diff is fastened to the sump , and the forces of the diff under power would simply move the cork gasket resluting in oil leaks !!
