Spot on mate. Some people must have these things, then realise they can't afford to keep them.

because of running costs .... its over Ł60 to fill up and your very lucky to get 250miles from a tank.....

a mate of mine has done 5900 miles and was standard fro 4.5k and after 3k needed new front tyres and that was Ł350+ and its just had another set.....

he then had a 400bhp kit fitted and after fitting it drove like a twat on the way home and got 95miles to a tank.... but if drives sensible can get 220 miles from it....

but fuck all this im still waiting for the prices to come down like i did with the mk1 .... when its about 13/14k im buying and it will soon as the new mk3 frs in coming soon

hang on...
he got 95 miles to a tank?
the tank in that car is 62 litres..
so his car has used approx 1/2 a LITRE per mile?! AVERAGE

6mpg average for a whole tank full... he must of been goin like an absolute fooker lol

2 sets of tyres in 6k, 95 miles to a tank, just shows how hard he drives the car, can get over 250 miles out of a tank without much grief and only just changed tyres after 8900 miles

anybody ever get a quote for finance?i went into ford 1 weekend as they had loads of cossies and rs turbos,mk1 and 2 escorts and 2 1600i's in the showroom.
the annoying salesman kept asking if i wanted a qoute and eventually i gave in,even after telling him i would never buy a new car and wouldnt spend that sort of money on a car.
cant remember if i said i would put a deposit down but it was Ł605 a month for 60 months iirc, cant remember if there was a bubble but to hell with paying 600 a month personally as it would never get used like any 'sunday' car i have.it was funny as the guy got stuck on something so he got an experienced salesman over who asked when i wanted the car,i said 6 months and he replied 'they have stopped making them',i know, but i dont want a new 1 as you lose too much.think he thought i was actually buying 1 and not just humouring the young lad.
nice car and maybe in a few years ill have 1 in green but not top of my list just now!

Many people buy this sort of car as a toy and discrard it quickly ,they will now buy a 4x4 for winter and sell that in March/April and the cycle continues, lots of cossies etc have far too many owners

as for single figures MPG...i saw that in a Saab 9000Turbo in the 80s so not exactly unexpected for a heavy turbo car

i'm so happy i didn't buy one then

but i've done a tank in the sierra in less than 100 miles and giving it death i've spanked half a tank in 22 miles

i think that if you can afford to buy a Ł30k car then putting petrol into it isn't going to be much of an issue

loads will have been purchased by ford employees or through the forces which always hits the market after 12 months
ive had two new focus st's both with a remap
i used to average 150-200 miles per tank but i did do one crazy tank at 90 miles
my best was probably from essex to a rolling road in surrey and back round the m25 to essex and i had 13 miles left to empty
that was a tank of fuel on a saturday gone
the st was depreciating by 400 a month from new 250-300 on fuel
new tyres every 5-6k
now if you have it on finance as well at 300 a month its an expensive hobby at 250-00 a week
some people just dont do the figures i am afraid and just steam in

most people brought them with the view that they were all sold out at first so people would pay more for them and they would make money i work for a ford dealer and all the bosses had em and anyone with money and there mate had one but all put em up for sale to try and make a few quid some made a tidy profit and sold them straight away some who drove them are now gutted they are set to loose a few grand if not more??same with the 500's look at all the ones for sale they all have delivery mileage and are aking more than what they cost new so to make a few quid.fair play i say im all up for that but think it has bit a few in the arse now though.ill be buying one around christimas or in january when they are at a much lower price if not when they bring the new one out as then like the st's they ill be silly cheap.

Almost got the white one but for almost 30k then tax and insuring it

How the hell can you get 37.7 mpg and in my focus 2 litre i have never seen 32 mpg i get 30 - 31.4 mpg. That works out about 330-350 ish miles a tank.

You must drive at 50 everywhere maybe? Im not in towns alot, i live in the fens!

I think the main reason people are getting rid of them is that they arnt as exclusive as everybody thought they were going to be and they don't hold their money either.

I bought a 2 year old ST and kept it for 16 months and it depreciated only Ł750 in that time but it did like to eat front tyres. Normally I drive like a saint but it did all 4 tyres and another set of fronts the 15k I owned it for

I know mate which is why I bought and sold it when I did, my company pay for my car so I did well out of it and I bought an M3 with a little more outlay once the prices came down I loved the ST and I'd love an RS
