Default CAT C vehicles and VIC checks

do all cat c cars have the vic/substantial repair note on the logbooks in the special notes part of the front page?

ive viewed one and it doesnt have it there, im just wondering do they all state this on the logbook if they have been through a vic check, or do some not have it?

or do some cat c cars not need a vic check?

thanks all.

As far as i'm aware All Cat C'd cars need the VIC test. I had a Rover 200 a few years back that I put through a Vic test and nothing was on the logbook about that.

There's no particular reasoning behind it as it's purely down to vosa, after all commercials don't require a vic even when their cat c.

You may find it is on the logbook as only very recently have they added all that sustained a major impact bollox as that's exactly what it is,bollox.I've seen cars cat c for being scratched all over yet a cat d looks like it's fallen out of an aeroplane!!

Has the person your buying it off ever sent the logbook back to the Dvla after the accident or vic as I'm currently driving a grand Cherokee that I know is cat c yet as I haven't put it in my name, the logbook is clean?

Ring VOSA on 0300 123 9000, tell them the reg and they will tell you if there is a VIC marker against the car.

I bought an Astra in 2004 that was Cat C and needed a VIC test, when the log book came back it had it written in the notes section of the log book.
