Agreed not all supercar owners are snotty cunts but some are. Tonight i parked next to a Bentley Continental GT and as i returned to my car the owner of the Bentley was walking back to his, he opens his boot remotely from just the right distance for everyone to see the boot opening on its own and as i approach my car he is staring at me just trying to catch me taking a sneaky glimpse at his car. He stands at the open boot whilst he fiddles with his phone just to reinforce the fact that "Yes it's my car, you can drool if you want to - i'm the man" then he gets in and shuts the boot remotely again. Such a pompous twat. Yes the car was nice but his attitude was that of a jumped up prick.
Anyway Dave, i bet you're wondering if it was worth posting about now and if it was worth all the flak.

So he opens his remote boot from a distance, probably so he can dump shopping bags in the back, or put his coat in there when he gets to the car. (which is not something special anyway, many "lesser" cars have this)

I'd wager that most people here have walked back to their car, opened the boot, put shopping in there, then either stood outside the car and farted so they dont drag it in with them or played with their phone before setting off for a journey.
Seems the only thing different is the guys boot opened and closed for him. And of course your perception of what was going through his mind, which probably couldnt have been further from the truth.
It seems the comments from earlier of how success is almost frowned upon in this country are quite true. Ill bet when that guy was in school he concentrated on his work and was called a swat too.

Quite.
For some reason, it really does piss me off when people call it a GT40. IT'S NOT A FUCKING GT40 FOR FUCK'S SAKE
Anyway, this has all gotten a bit out of hand to be honest. Love how people are saying that all Cossies are unreliable bags of shit. I bet if you had a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche, gave it 100k of abuse, had all sorts of pricks owning it, ragging the shit out of it, not servicing it enough, fitting cheap parts etc etc, as many Cossies have suffered, then tried to give it an extra 100bhp's worth of engine mods, I wonder if it would fair any better? I would wager not...
A car is only as reliable as it's maintenence history.

It's an irritating error, as it is the difference between two cars that are worlds apart. Almost like 'bought' and 'brought', which also pisses me off
Are they? I've had loads and most have done heaps of miles and never given me any trouble at all.
As I said in my previous post, take an Evo like the one in your avatar, give it 100k in the hands of nut jobs who abuse it, fit cheap parts, don't service it properly, then, when it's knocking on 20 years old, try and wind it up by 100bhp, and see how reliable it all is.
Stacks of Cosworths have done well over 100k if looked after, it's just sad that a lot of them haven't been in their previous lives. So by the time they get into the hands of someone on this sort of forum, they're starting to show it, especially when the new owner starts to tweak it a bit.
Chap I know had a 2WD Saph that he used as a tarmac rally car, converted from a road car, done 150k on it's original lump, was about 300bhp and still ran fine. Little oil blowing through the turbo, but that was it. A lot of modern cars seem to struggle to last that long on original turbos and things. What a bag of shit hey
As with any performance car, they need looking after, which is why things like the Evo have a pretty short service interval, so they can be maintained properly.
I would bet, 100%, that when all the Evos/Scoobies/Skylines/etc etc etc on here that people rave about, are knocking on 20, have had a couple of dodgy owners, that they'll be no more reliable than the average Cosworth is. The thing is, most of them are just a lot newer, so haven't had the time for their diffs to get worn out, or for their wiring looms to start to degrade.

Why couldnt Dave have just said. I had a race with a Gallardo and won...
Its so crap that just because the guy had a more expensive car then he is immediantly a cunt who was laughing at Dave, doesn't appreciate Cosworths or cars, has a huge loan, is a spotty teenager or a twat young footballer AND that he was gutted that he lost a race (if there even was one! )
bet he was a nice guy, successful in his job, who was just out for a nice drive, and was smiling at something totally different and didnt even try and race Dave!

Can you read? my point is not that Dave had the race or that he enjoyed it.... it was that Dave just 'assumed' the Lambo owner was a knob and was laughing at him and didnt appreciate Cossies. Thats all.
as I said here....
of course its cool! its v cool that genuine supercar performance can be had out of Cossies still.
Me and Martin raced an Enzo on the Gumball few years back.
but we were not slagging him off afterwards and saying that he is a kiddy fiddler and robs old ladies to pay for the finance on it!!!!
and we certainly didnt 'wipe the smile' off his face! he was smiling all the time! before, during and after!
afterwards he came over, said he was amazed at Marts Escort. Asked if we were running 'Nitro' and had a little sit in it and me and mart sat in his Enzo (VERY VERY COOL!)
he thought no less of us and we thought no less of him despite him having a Ł750k car...
Just car enthusiasts. Like the Lambo owner probably was...
But thats not the story Dave is telling is it... which is why I piped up!

Where did i say he was staring blankly into space? I said he was staring at me but again obviously i must bow down to your greater knowledge seeing as you somehow know exactly what the scenario was.
Fucking troll, crawl back under your bridge.

Oooohhhh yes, i feel so stupid now you have explained it to me without you even being there. So with a "smart" phone (?) you have to switch them on and off each time you want to use it do you and then you have to wait for them to get a signal in the middle of a busy town centre (ie not a rural area with weak or no signal), thank fuck i've got a dinosaur of a phone that is left on permanently and 99% of the time has a signal.
Where did i say he was staring blankly into space? I said he was staring at me but again obviously i must bow down to your greater knowledge seeing as you somehow know exactly what the scenario was.

Have you ever forgot to switch your phone on? Perhaps he had?
Ever been annoyed at not getting a signal even though you think you should get a great one in your location?
Ever had something on your mind that you were thinking about and didnt pay any attention to who or what was around you?
maybe he thought he knew you from somewhere and was waiting for you to look at him before making a cock of himself and saying "hey up Brian".
All I can see is someone came back to their car, popped the boot, stood there a while, looking at you for whatever reason and then got in his car and shut the boot.
If he had been driving a Vauxhall Vectra or a Toyota Corolla, would he still have been a "pompus prick", or are you solely basing the pompus prick bit on his car.
No I wasn't there, but judging from your description, he bacame a pompus prick the moment he opened his Bentley boot from a distance.

at least you havent proved me right by writing a massive post just to justify my futile light hearted joke about the brand we all seem to care about.....oh wait there

It always makes me laugh when people assume that anybody that owns a newer high end sports car is considered a knob, this country suppress's ambition and dreams and as such breads resentment towards the few that have been able to buy there dream cars, i have been fortunate to own some nice cars from new but each time l get a new one l am starting to think about the next one as compared to some comments from people on this thread l beleive l can get what ever l want if l apply myself,
Some of you guys need to have a bit more self belief and drive,
As a car enthuisast l get excited seeing a cossie even though l am stood in a Porsche/Ferrari dealer waiting for my own car to come back,
Anyway glad to see your having fun for a change Dave

Lambo v Escort
let's get this into perspective, if the loser of said race offered a straight swap, his Lamborghini Gallardo for Dave's 'winning' escort.
Does anyone think Dave would have refused ?
Would anyone have refused ?

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I like how you can post that the site is full of bummers with double standards and not get flamed for it.
I post up hilighting the irony that we have a thread about high insurance costs, alongside a thread on the same day showing sleeper cars that have not informed the dvla of engine changes, and Im the troll.
Double standards indeed.

i think this thread needs locking as its an agree to disagree
if i was in an escort cosworth just cruising on a mway, and i see a lambo cruise past i would ease up next to him and see what happend, if he didnt do anything i would still floor it.. if i was in a lambo and sore an m3 or merc or a cosworth id do the same thing...
but then on the other hand u do get car enthusiasts that will just poodle along in there lambo or ferrari.. and get the odd scooby driver or cosworth driver wanting to race him so he has a little giggle to himslef and thinks whateva twat... i would think whata twat but id still floor it... and probably give a thumbs up if it impressed me rather than flip him the bird!
the reason i think supercar owners dont need to have there faces wiped is because there driving there flash car on the road and have there track car at home.. but u have ur track car on the road!

I think supercar owners fall into two catagories, people like Porkie who are total petrol heads, and enjoy a freindly blast against anything interesting, regardless of the result, and have the means to buy, run and enjoy fantastic top-end cars...
The next group are people who would be tossers anyway, but happen to have a bit of money behind them, and by driving a car that most people would love, coupled with thier attitude (Birmingham is rife for this!) they rub people up the wrong way. Hence it being great fun to wipe the smug grin off thier face ..
I would hope if I am ever in a position to own a F car or somthing similar, I would not forget my roots and enjoy the car along with everyone else who sees it
Oh, and this country has a MASSIVE problem with success, if someone has done well for themselves the green eyed monster is rampant!
