My new MK6 Escort Zetec 1.8
Hi guys, Im new to the forum and I've just bought my first ford. It's a 3 door 1998 Escort Zetec.
I bought the car about a month ago for way to much than it was worth but anyway. Got it home and it didn't start. Got new starter motor and still didn't work. Put it into the garage it it was the loom. The guy that owned it before me was mucking around with it and the electrics were shocking. 60 volts were going to the front wipers and heaps of other electrics didn't work either.
I got the loom sorted and it was working fine. The next day the car was making a horrible screeching noise so decided to take it back into the garage. On my way out the car broke down on the duel carriageway! Turns out the clutch and gearbox are knackered too.
I'm fed up of taking it back and forth to garage and all the other little problems so it's in the garage now getting a full service including new timing belt. New clutch, new gearbox and heaps of other little bits that it needs.
It also has a small dent in the front wing and a crack in the back bumper. My best mates a panel beater so once I get it back it it's going to his to get repaired.
I'm a car valeter so I'll obviously be spending 2 full days cleaning, buffing, claying etc.
Theres A LOT more to mod's to come so a lot more pictures to come, watch this space! Comments please!
Heres a few pics of it after it's first wash and hoover. Before and after pics will be shown once Car's had a full detail.

It's a GTI. I want 160BHP from it any ideas? Was thinking r1 carbs, st170 manifold, chipped? I just want it to be faster than my mates golf GTI.
It's Land Rover Grey

Looks really smart mate, rims suit it. You'll be hard pressed to get 160bhp out of it this side of gas. My brothers other halfs GTi
That made 155bhp and was running Piper cams, superchip, full magnex, throttle body etc. There really wasn't a cheap way to get anything else from it so we dropped an ST170 engin in the bay

It was just an enlarged throttle body from a 2 litre Mondeo I believe, nothing mega fancy. I'll have to find out rest of spec from my brother as I'm not 100% certain. It did go ok for what it was. To be honest though I wouldn't mess about too much with the 1800 as it's cheap and quite easy to just stick a 2 litre Mondeo in and give you a base 130bhp platform to work off.

ok sounds good, well it was just some ideas for the future. In the mean time the main thing is to get it running perfect, sort the body work and valet every single millimetre of that car!
