Didn't think of an elise, nice suggestion, however I'm 6ft 3ins and would have to be double jointed to fit in it!
I'm 6ft 3 and had a VX220. Once you're actually in there's loads of room, in fact my sister in law had a go and she couldn't actually reach the pedals. Getting in and out is a bit of a challenge but they are massive fun to drive, you can basically throw them into virtually any corner at high speed and they come out the other side as flat as anything. I scared the life out of her when I took her for a testdrive in it.
The VX220 engine is much better than the older Elise engines too, the normally aspirated 2.2 is great fun.
And there's not many about now either. The Elise is a prettier car but the VX220 is definitely superior mechanically.
Loads of choices, my personal preference would be an E39 M5, well built, fast, and practical when you need it, and not every Tom, Dick & Harry has one.
knowing mad mac he is a) full of shit or b) too stupid and got a 10k loan for a car not realising insurance, servicing and parts all cost money
my 2p,s worth
Some of these suggestions are phenomenally stupid given the original criteria?!
Cheers,
Grant
Agreed, 9 out of the 10 suggestions aren't even two seater cars with more than 6 cylinders Still some good suggestions. The 350Z definitely looks to be the way forward, some quite late ones for 10k.

If you don't fancy the VX220 how about an Audi TT. I couldn't believe how cheap you can pick up the old ones for now.
ps The VX220 isn't really a Vauxhall, it's a Lotus with a good strong Vauxhall engine in it. The older Elises had the old Rover engine in which was basically pants, the newer ones went for a Toyota engine, but the Vauxhall engine in the VX220 is still better, really good power delivery.

Your making a convincing argument re the VX220. I will have to try one out.
Definitely not a TT however, I like the new ones, but never really liked the old.

Yes, give one a go, I'm sure you'll love it. I think they're one of those cars you own for a bit, have a laugh with and then sell though, they're not something you can easily use every day. But they are most definitely fun, you really feel like you're in a sports car when you drive one.
I've never had a TT either, bit girly for me, but I was just surprised you can pick them up for Ł5k.

Its funny thou because the VX is a car I would have loved to have when it came out, but forgot all about it. I recon its because you never seem them on the road. See if I can't find one with a toyota engine. As for practicalities, the Mrs has the Micra, which we only use to do the shopping run in and at most I would probably use it to get back and forth from work to see clients or a jaunt off somewhere for the weekend or something.
Thats what I thought about the TT, even the beefed up version didn't look that special!

A friend of mine is about to put his lovely black 350Z (uk GT) up for sale, set of superb wheels on it, the alezan leather, loads of sensible mods, I think he would take about 10k for it, he lives in Chelmsford and has owned it for about 3 years i think.

Nice depends on how soon he puts it up however, I am waiting for some investments to reach the end of their tax period, if he does it later rather than sooner would definitely be interested black ones are quite hard to find and if I do see one up for sale they are usually without the extras!
To be honest he wouldnt be bothered when he puts it up for sale, he rarely uses it and commutes by train to London. Car is in great condition though and has been REALLY well looked after. Problem with Z's these days are that they are becoming affordable now to youngsters so a lot of badly looked after/ maintained examples out there.
Black is deffo the best colour though, i've had both black and a blue one and would definitely have another one if i didnt need the space in the car!
