quick sony vaio question
ive reinstalled XP, and tried everything to get the "Fn & F2-F7" to work, ie brightness, contrast etc
anyone got any ideas, doin me box in

sony will not let you upgrade your machine ! you try buying the parts from them that the laptop didnt come with
absolute coonts
i have managed to do this on one laptop and i only managed to do that by finding a similar laptop that came with xp and downloading the drivers for that
trial and error im affraid
another reason of mine not to buy sony

what you guys don realise is that sony ONLY release the drivers for the OS the laptop was shipped with
if you want to upgrade ie windows 98 to xp none of the drivers will work and sony will not supply them !
2000 to xp is better as most 2000 drivers will work for xp

I have a (admitidly older) VAIO sitting in front of me and I can download drivers and software for XP/2000/Me and 98(SE) which is what it shipped with.

Chasing Radders
Try taking the the lower spec viao internall process unit and the outter limit server boards, runs these through a blackwall unit and refit them in the final gigadrive slot next to the lower output binary board on the middle faze process card reader. This will make the viao read like its an old processer unit and allow the codes for the new hardware on the codex branch of the sealed process unit.

thanks tiff, but didnt work
it came with xp home, im running xp pro now so same o/s and it was working with the image it was shipped with.
been to the vaio link site a zillion times over for various things. I think I need to find someone with a similar laptop, mines a PCG-K315Z
