Default Fine for no mot - how much?

Just realised that the mot on the fiesta was due on the 9th and I thought it was the 19th. It's getting done now so it should all be good, but what's the damage if I was stopped by plod for not having an mot?

Fine? Points? Ban? What?

Currently it's failing on a tyre

if its booked in for an mot and your taking the car to the mot station, i think you can get away with that, so long as you take the most direct route.

but if your just driving around with no mot, i thought they took the car off you?

I hope the fine has gone up now, as who would pay the £55.85 for an mot when you can just pay £30 if you get caught.

And there is no limit on distance.

You can also drive without an MoT to a garage if they're going to carry out work for the MoT.

It was £30 fine but then they gave a producer to prove you had the car mot'd, so cost of fine and mot was around £70

I asked in the police station last year i think it was, i was told it has to be the nearest MOT station.

I suppose its obvious, if you live 2 miles away from a MOT station then why would you be driving say 10 miles to a different one? i know there could be lots of reasons, but to the police they dont care about those "reasons" do they.

Exactly, bollox isn't it?I got done years ago,out by two days!!!£20 fine,£20 costs, same price as the ticket cost near enough.wasn't asked if I re moted it,I told them that I did when I was asked if I wanted to say anything to the court.

Another funny one from years ago,got done for a baldy tyre, one inch strip all round, cunts!!anyway,I asked for a producer,he refused, your being done.got fined and sent it off with the three points on the licence BUT,was not asked in anyway to change the tyre or prove I had done,so what was to stop me driving round without doing it?the law is an ass!!!

I'm 99% sure that it doesn't have to be your "nearest" test centre, the same question was raised a few weeks back and the answer then was that you could book it in anywhere you wanted providing you took the most direct route.

My budget to buy a car was £2500 and I've not yet spent that amount in total in a year since buying it if you include insurance and tax and even fuel so that why I can have £118k in the bank

Its going to cost me £20 to unlock my phone through vodaphone so I'm going to haggle with the bloke down th road who does it for fiver

And the mot only cost me £35 because I shopped about.

And I've got the mrs a contract for a fiver a month for her phone because I shopped around.

So if you save your money you can have a big amount in your bank account, maybe even enough to buy a new bentley if I wanted

It's going to cost about £250 to get sorted so that's a bill I'll give to the mrs
