Default Transit help again please!!!!

2.4TDCI TRANSIT MOTORHOME 2004 WITH 15000MILES!

Diesel centre listened and said advance solenoid on pump, van ruuning very advanced and very loud underpowered.

Now the symptoms started as i slight louder noise occasionally no loss of power...then all normal for quite a few miles.....then very loud under powered.....the last night it ran back as normal spot on perfect for the evening.....started it up today and fine revved it dropped back to tickover then...knock knock knock back to running shit...

Now is this a normal thing with a pump issue? I would have thought either the pump is fucked or not why is it occassionally running perfect....the diesel centre didnt bother to put on diagnostic machine as they were certain of noise....but 15000 miles, i know its 6 years old but still?
Any suggestions? (on tick over from cold very loud and stalls and gets glow plug light flashing which should store a fault code? I told them this but still didnt hook up) Diesel pump?

Sounds bang on like the pump to me. Transits always do this when the pumps are on there way out!

Not uncommon for people to leave the engines running for long periods when parked up in a motorhome, so the milage isnt always a great indication of the number of hours use the pump has had.

I'll agree with that, some of our wagons at work are started at 7 30am and aren't turned off until 5pm, some of them must do no more than 10 miles a day. The transit used in my hangar is on an 05 plate, has about 9000 miles on the clock!

TDCIs don't have an injector pump to have an advance solenoid in as they are common rail. TDDIs were common for it though. Easy fix unless the pump has started to go fucked as then the solenoid sometimes won't come out when it does.
