I use a Brother HL-2170W wireless laser printer. Price was under $100 in the US don't know if it's available in the UK but it has worked very well for a few years now.

Get a Kodak if you can, they came out top in the gadget show test a few weeks back, mate of mine used them in his camera shop when he was manager there, cartridges are a LOT cheaper than any other brand of printer too!

I'd look at lexmark offerings, staples, argos, etc, got my 1st lexy Prospect PRO 205, a bit higher up than you're after but 5 year warranty as std, good on ink, also they have lifetime priority technical phone support, with a std rate number.
Cost me about Ł160, but compared with my previous Ł800 HP device is light years ahead, doesn't need a mortgage for new cartridges, and despite my HP being a photo printer the lexy is better quality also.

My wireless worked right away no problems, as does my lads lappy work it from outside as well, certainly got a 25 foot range.
