calling all dog owners help!
i have a staff and she started eating poo then stopped but every now and again she will only eat the poo from one of the three dogs we have, eating it before it even touchs the ground i tried shouting and telling her no even a light smack on the hind leg (i dont agree on hitting animal ) just a small light smack to get her to stop but no she dont respond to nothing i even have to chase her away and i pick the poo up as soon as they do it but wiv it being dark and that i just cant see her doing it all the time.
any ideas people even tried putting her on vitiams tablets and calcium but didnt help. tried diet changes from meat to not having meat just dry food but still the same it just winding me up and shes stinking the house out when she burps

Mine does it as well mate. We have to watch him all the time and get him away from it or pick it up asap. We basically can't leave our dog unsupervised outside because he always ends up picking up something, he's always looking for stuff. Doesn't really matter what it is if it fits in his mouth. He is a lab though, and they are notorious for it.
Dogs are just disgusting basically.

We had a border lakeland terrier that used to do this, it would eat its brothers and sisters cack, we tried everything to stop it, even putting chilli powder in the crap to teach her a lesson but it just seemed to make it more tasty for her , only way to stop her was to pick up the crap as soon as the other dogs did them, she died quite young and I've always thought this must of been one of the reasons? I mean come on, eating shit cant be healthy?

I've always thought that dogs eating poo was a myth, i've had 3 rottweilers and none of them go near poo, they will disregard even a favourite toy if it comes into contact with poo....
Call cesar milan, he is the man... hes got a book out you should have a look at, dont know if theres anything in there about this stuff tho.

She is not eating the poo from a dog/bitch that was from a litter from her is she ? That is normal as cleaning up kind of thing.
I have two Staffs dog n bitch and the bitch did it for her pups before you could get anywhere near it.She does not do it now and neither does my dog.I have also seen one of my friends staffy dogs eat his own poo on a few occasions I always thought it was something to do with nutrients ?
