Default Compomotive alloys!

Hi all.
just last week a purchased a brand new set of comp mo5 spoke alloys direct from them.
i had a quick look in the boxes and they looked great
BUT when i removed them from the boxes the back of the wheels have loads of paint defects, high build up of paint, scratched, bubbling in sum parts basically look secondhand from the inside!!
however i emailed them and basically they say "thats how they come"
and once on the car you wont see it and will be covered in brake dust!!

so has anyone else had new comps which look secondhand?
im well pissed with this as they wernt cheap as you may all no!!

I always have them sent unfinished / unpainted and have them powder coated, as their finish has never been great, but what you posted above is unacceptible and I would take pictures and send them to Stephanie (at Comp), as they may not appreciate how bad they are by a description, but pictures speak a thousand words.

BBS, OZ etc etc all make motorsport wheels but they never seem to have to use the tired old excuse Compomotive always churn out to justify their shoddy products. Not as if they are at the bargain end of the wheel market either.

Mine were mint IIRC, i dont remember a single mark on them, though i know i wouldn't of really been looking hard (its not a show car), i'm sure i would of noticed a couple of blemishes if there were some....

Stephanie at Comp is now on 12 month leave, If your unhappy with the finish contact the person who dealt with your order or Barry with photo's of the wheels showing poor finish.

One of my comps turned up damaged and the box was damaged aswell , i took pictures of both the wheel and the box , and to be fair Compomotive were great about it , swapped the wheel over without a fuss.

They're not shoddy products The wheels are actually high quality but are sometimes let down by poor powder coating. I would have helped with this but sadly the thread starter went direct Btw my 500 wheels are perfect!

Always assumed comp's were top quality considering how much they cost.....regardless of how well made they are bit of a poor show if they can't even get the simplest process right i.e the powder coating! Sounds like typical aftersales service too

Personally, I've never been fussed with the finish comp do. Yes its always been shit, so I just live with it because they'll never change, and I won't ever stop buying them in future. Just simply have them powder coated every year to keep them fresh...especially when they come in white

You must have had a one off set mate

comps quality is poor , always has been and probs always will be

There customer service is even more shocking than the quality of there wheels tho I have never delt with a company that basicly dont give a shit what there customers think

Best thing to do is buy through a dealer like Martin as he has buying power and they will resolve issues for dealers as they realise without them there buggered

They have a great product that looks stunning and they do what there supposed to do , just a shame they get there stuff coated by some shocking staff and when you complain they dont care

My comments are from experiance

My comps were brand new, but off someone on eBay who hadn't fitted them and two of the wheels have forging marks on the spokes under the powder coat. Like sharp raised areas 10mm long and 2-3mm high in several places. Never really bothered me as I got them about 30% cheaper, but if it was a show car and they were new I wouldn't have been happy.

Know I didn't miss understand as he's my brother, and he got them for the same price you quoted, just thought it would be easier to cut out the middle man!so why would it be different if he got them from you all you would do is ring comp give them his address and they would send them direct?and you would probley pocket abit of commission?

And what would be wrong with him doing that?

Your brother would have paid exactly the same amount of money and would have then had someone to fight his corner who would be taken seriously? Win-win?

Or am I missing the point Martin was making?

i know this doesnt help but it does seem that although they do seem to have fairly crappy customer service, they are more likely to help out a well known customer who buys hundreds (maybe thousends of units a year) than a single order customer.

you just need to be persistant with this, as no matter the application you should be provided with goods of a reasonable quality, and if you are unhappy then return them for a refund

return for refund and buy through reyland probably best bet. Shit solution for you but probably least stress, unless your gonna powder coat them yourself.
