Default What to replace cossie with

After my big spec 2wd saff being off the road for nearly a year, and another 2.5k spent on it,i took it for an mot last week end, passed no probs, but the car did nothing for me when i drove it,and drove like shite, maybe because the geometry needs set ,but now thinking of breaking it,but what do i buy next, thoughts are

1, E39 BMW M5

2, E46 BMW M3 MANUAL

3,AUDI RS6 AVANT

Whats your thoughts

Stu, get the E39 M5 mate... its more suitable for a gentleman your age.

The RS6 is 4WD, if you bought a 4WD car, I'd never let you live it down after all the years of abuse you've given me about driving 4WD stuff!! ...the Audi would probably put a smile on your face in a straight line after a wee bit of work, but would bore you shitless on the bends IMO.

Cheers,
Grant

i would stay away from the RS6 as the bills can get rather silly with them!

out of the two cars, i would be looking for a e46 M3,,

Out the 3 for me would have to be the m5
The m3 bores thye pants of me,the torque of the m5 is much more pleasing..

The only thing I could see me selling my cossies for are a 911 with turbos , so either a turbo or GT2, or maybe an ultima gtr, or maybe a 360...No point going to an evo/scooby/tvr etc as you are still in the realms of a 2.0l engine in a saloon, or TVR with cossie reliability..

If I could keep them AND have an M3/5 then I would have an M car, but as a direct replacement I don't think they have the fun factor(IMHO!)

they dont have to cost anything in the long run as long as there bought and sold right. they dont depreciate like newer cars will.

not as a daily but as a toy there perfect, my last saph owed me £9500 and it returned £11500 in parts. and i had 5k of hard miles out of that car.

imo you cannot go wrong with a highly tuned old car as long as its desirable, and its bought for the right money and thats where they come few and far between. patience is your friend

ive driven a e39 m5 and went for a ride in a e90 m3 420bhp v8, wasnt impressed by the m5, the m3 is a fast car with a complete package but it doesnt make your passengers scream for their life as in an equal fast cossie, youre not feeling how fast you are really going and that takes the thrill away and the power being spread for such a long band it doesnt kick you in the arse like in a laggy cossie. but in the end it comes down to what you are after.

so i guess i would have to agree with someone before mentioning a 911 turbo, that must be bloody awsome in all aspects.
