cossie oil usage?
How much oil does everyones cossies use? I understand different specs and driving conditions will alter this but im talking just on average. My spec is big turbo standard internals seimens 55's around 400bhp. I seem to be topping it up every time i go out in it.

Yeh it prob uses a litre every 600-800 mile i would say. It doesnt smoke on full chat or on start up and it runs fine. Would a different oil breather help? I have a bailey one on at the moment.

The ST is a modern everyday engine built to high tolerances so will use less oil but then that isnt hard when comparing the two...PMSL.

There's a fair few E46 330i and E39 M5 engines that'll do a litre of oil per 1000 miles - few owners on PH in the M-Barge thread that were shocked how much their cars get through on long Euro trips

20K+ Super Poster.
I got through a litre in around 50 miles, but that was with 200K on the original bore/pistons, now new with 1 1/2 thou clearance so will be normal.
Some oil will go past the step gap in the turbo anyway, unless you have a step gap seal.
Different oils will go at different rates, and faster the hotter the oil, that's why I run a stat oil/air cooler, and was using 20W50, comma MINERAL oil.

The YB was designed as a high revving race engine so the bore tolerances are wider and also the wide temperature ranges of the combustion need more thermal expansion.

I remember fudge Having a 200sx that used to use that sort of amount, it was an utter smoke bomb!
