Welcome!, and the main difference between a saff and an R5 is the price of the cars and the bits lol, you can buy tunning stuff for the little renaults dead cheap, mention cosworth and you had better get your chequebook out lol, cars are never unreliable, they are either never built right or are badly maintained! IMO

Welcome and that's a very nice little R5 mate.
Fords tend to suffer the tin worm so try to pick one up with a little of it as possible, and if the car has been modded (most have) then make sure it is with decent mods and done properly so as to avoid premature breakage of bits and your wallet.
Get the very best example you can from the off and it will be a more enjoyable car to own.

Welcome! My best advice would to be buy a car that has been looked after with no rot, preferably restored with a rebuilt engine etc. It may cost double to buy in the first place but will be worth it not to go through all the heartache of buying a shed IMO!!

Cheers mate, it's got a group n clutch, double capacity gttuning intercooler, 2 1/2 down pipe, a.a.s exhaust, carb re-jetted, cup mod, uprated leads and plugs, rev limiter, ktec lobster, red samco hoses, braided oil cooler pipes, omp strut brace. The carb is set for 18psi for my t25 turbo but the oil seal needs repairing do I have my t2 on at the moment. It's running about 185-90bhp with the t25 on.

hello and welcome. I drive my saff nearly everyday. If they have been looked after they will be reliable. I had running problems when i got mine nearly 5 years ago. For the past 3 years its been spot on. Ive been all over in my car too.

Nice one mate, if look after what you have and it's been built properly I don't see why it shouldn't be. I drive my Renault every day and it's spot on, they don't love cold starts with them been carb but no problems wen she's warm, if I bought a saph I wouldn't want it sitting in the garage I'd want it were ever I go! Lol
