Who started passionford?
[flame suit on]
Who actually started/created passionford? As far as i knew it was Petrucci. It was his site that he created. Stu came along from the RSBB and helped build on Petrucci's site.
Now behind Stu's username here it says "(passionford creator)".
Also on his website it says "Back in May 2003 I started and ran a web forum from scratch called Passionford.com before finally selling it to a company in the USA called Internet Brands Inc in 2007 after 4 years of building it up to in excess of 40,000 members and her serving 3.5 million pages per month. "
So is this a bit like dojj and the bentley or am i mistaken?

afaik Pet had this site set up and there were about 4 members on it.
Stu got on board and him and Pet got it to what is with plenty of hard work.
it was supposed to be struggling to keep going as the server was costing too much and thats where the 'Gold Members' type thing came in.
We decided to donate money to contribute to the running of the site and it went from there.
in the end, the people who donated got privilages and had better access to the board.
when it was getting bigger more members joining and thats when it became a good time to sell.
At the time Pet was supposed to have sold the site to IB and there was banter on the board about Stu getting nothing from the sale of it, true or not i don't know, but thats what i took it as everyone was slating Pet and putting pics up of big boats he bought with the money etc...lol.
this is how i seen it,it may be all wrong, sorry Stu if it is.

Stu doesnt post anymore does he? not since the site was sold, he used to always post in the fittness room.
without a doubt this sites done wonders for his business but it seems since he sold his saph he slowly moved away from the site?
If he didnt get anything from the sale of the site (i remember him making a statement with regards to this) i wouldnt blame him for taking full credit for the site, at least give him that. deserves it after all.

Or maybe Stu is just talking about only his involvement, much like most people would if talking about what they do at work on their CV, its common for people so say "I did...." when talking about their role even if they were a part of a team surely?

Maybe Pet was just a cover story right from the start and never really existed

Nah the way it reads is that he created this site...the "pf creator" name gives that away!

The URL and associated forum www.passionford.com was registered by a French customer of mine, Mr Julien La'Grenee back in December 2002 after discussion with me when he was here with his car, about maybe starting one to take over where the RSBB left off.
It took a while due to us both being very busy but in May 2003 it had only him, his web designers and me as members. I decided to move forward with the plan and finally announced it to a lot of UK car forums and started to bring some traffic and members over via WOM and magazine advertising. All advertising was at my personal cost and the forum became popular and busy due to my involvement, time and marketting. Julien purely hosted and maintained it on his webserver.
Eventually it was sold onto a company who own a great many of the worlds biggest forums called Internet Brands and they still own it to this day, but its administered and run by me, as is Scoobynet.com. I Hope this satisfies your curiosity.

Julien fell into difficulties and sold it against my wishes. The URL was his as was the server it was hosted on so I didnt have anything to argue with. I learnt a very valuable lesson about trusting so called friends and mixing friendship and business that year... A mistake I will never repeat.

In which case I guess it does read very differently in the text quoted above, as it clearly reads as if it was you who sold it.
Not that it actually matters, as I said everyone's CV is a little twist on the truth, or in my case a massive departure as it implies I work for a living, so why should yours be any different or be singled out just cause of a bit of poetic license?
