Default Got my insurance...

for my Saph (not an RS just a 2000E)

So now all I need is tax and its back on the road, went onto confused.com and sureterm direct came back as the best deal.

£550 per year for Fully comp insurance limited to 5000 miles per annum with a courtesy car and windscreen cover too. Im 28 living in a decent area and the car is parked on the driveway of a night time, I have got 3 years NCB but 2 of those years are on company cars.

Personally I thought that was a decent quote so im happy.

Bit pricey IMO.

What other companies did you try or did you just use confused?

Just confused.com thats all.

I was happy with that as all the other companys were quoting £750/800.

My postcode is L39 witch confuses some insurance companys as some think its Lancashire anmd others think its Liverpool, according to the local council its Lancashire.

hi saphlover how do you go on with the 2000e cover thats what i have, but they will only cover me for third party only, as i dont have an immobilizer certificate to show em,.

i tried go compare and every quote that came up said they need immobilizer certificate or its third party only, they wont cover me for theft or attempted theft..

Seems a bit steep. Remember getting a quote on a 3 door cossie through the RSOC 5 years ago (was 24) on a limited millage, for about £450 a year. Pay the same now on an Impreza but with 9 years NCB

on the section regarding immobilizer / alarm category I just put "none fitted" and continued to the type of cover required section, tbh the 3rd party fire & theft quote was more exspensive than fully comp.

Is your 2000E standard or modified? How old are you? it could be your age?

oh right well i did it over the phone, and i said i dont think theres an immobilizer fitted, and all they said was, well you need one, we wont cover you for theft without..

well mines a cossie lookalike, and im 33, but they said it needed an immobilizer before i told em it was a lookalike

Thats a bit harsh, try confused.com and see what they say. I dont know why they said that to you as loads of cars dont have an immobilizer fitted as standard, especially cars of Sierra age.

I was thinking that I might have to have an immobilizer as part of the T&C's for my insurance so have just checked the confirmation email and it states No alarm/immobilizer fitted

Sounds like go compare isnt just annoying its not that good either.

Thats mad I was with Churchill on my last Sierra and all they asked was if it has an alarm / immobilizer and I said No.

I would give them a ring if I was with you and ask them whats the script.

You'll find that is down to Lancashire Police's boundaries being completely different to those of Lancashire County Council.

Have you tied paul B at Need2insure ? very nice bloke who knows his fords and owns a few iirc.

I was paying under £200 a year fully comp on an S1 with agreed value at £5k and 5k mileage limit.

Regards having access to another car, it means that the 'classic' car youre are insuring is not you main/only car and can be classed as a secondary weekend type car.
