MK1 Escort
Ok, i am at the stage of deciding which route to go down with my 2 dr MK1 Escort.
The car needs a fair amount of work to the shell, so the choice is restore to standard MK1 spec, i.e. leaf sprung axle etc. maybe even 4 linked atlas, or chop the floor out and put a Sierra floor pan in.
Either way, it requires a lot of welding, and i have some tasty suspension parts for either configuration, but i dont want to devalue the finished product.
Any suggestions?

Depends on so much really.IMHO if your cars got no history etc then why bother to make it mint etc by putting all original parts back on and an engine that's not really going to entertain you?after all a 1700x flows straying from originality so why not go the whole hog and shove something nice in it that you can tune up etc?no harm in keeping the body standard externally and give it the sleeper exterior!!

I seem to have missed a few details out.
The car is already bubble arched, and i have a 200 bhp pinto to put in it. I also have a capri atlas axle with lsd, and capri bilstein front legs.
The car has been bodged to enable a v6 to be fitted in its past, and the bulkhead has been cut back and a massive transmission tunnel has been fitted, so all that needs re-doing.
The car will be modified whichever way it gets done, but i meant standard as in the configuration (suspension layout etc).

as above, 6 link it but leave the standard floor pan (other than link boxes etc obviously!)
if you're going to use it on track/road rather than stage, give Gary at retromotorsports a ring about his tarmac spec low roll centre 6 link.
might as well get it tubbed as well...
steer well clear fo the sierra floorpan imo.
