Default Lambda Sensor

Right i have seen the Ford mag this month,

I have been told that if i fitted a lambda to my Hplate 4x4 cossie and ran a live ect to an air fuel gauge uit will read, and that there is no need to go via the ECU ???

Is this right ?

neither do i really, but yea if you install a lambda sensor in ya downpipe you can run an AFR gauge straight from it.

The article in the mag has nothing to do with a guage.

To have an accurate guage you need an expensive wide band lambda sensor otherwise you will get nothing more than a glorified christmas tree on your dash...

I have a Escort Cossie Turbo in a Hplate 4x4 pre lambda,

I have got a second hand lambda, and want to wire it up to an air/fuel gauge.

From reading the article Stu wrote, i thought that i would need to have the Lambda run through the ECU for it to work,

Is that the case ?

Or can i run the Lambda to the air fuel gauge with out going via the ECU,

Sorry for any confusion, im not the best at trying to explain what im looking for.

yes you can do that

do you do many miles in your car? if so closed loop fuel control is worth thinking about,, im sure it will pay for itself very fast

As Rich says, just run the lambda straight to the gauge, stay away from the ecu.

Cheers
