i used to watch them when i was a kid, it was frankie wayman(spelling?) and Andy smith who were on top.

I remember how the sound used to cut right through your body as they go round the track, then when you got home you had most of the track on your face and up your nose

I did chuckle at that

Good series, I have to be honest and say I've always considered that sort of thing Pikey motorsport, I appreciate all the time that goes into these but seriously where do they spend all their money if it costs that much

I'll have to catch up with the first episodes as I'm sure they have mentioned it.

PMSL @ the women though, maybe I thought its pikey because of how some people are at these events !

Awesome, now 12k is a damn good price to put anything toegether, just can't see what else their using that puts so much onto the costs.

What gearbox do they use ?

Yeh I have heard they use transit axles, seems a sensible choice.

I'd of thought they would use some 2 or 3 speed unit of some sort, hardly worth having 10 grands worth of 6 speed sequential in it if your only going to use 2 or so gears lol

3 speed box 1 reverse 2 forward gears. there are a few using transit rear axles. think most use the old fg axle. price depends on engine spec, my mates is quite low on power compared to most. guess it's like cossie engines. 400bhp 3 grand 650bhp 30 grand.

My mate Chad builds and races the F2 stuff and the lengths they go to and tech that goes into what is effectivly grass routes motorsport is shocking in my opinion.

But he (and his mate) build bloody competitve cars.

They're nuts out on track too... put each other into the wall just for talking in the wrong direction

Was close lol.. Incarace do coperate style track days where you can choose to race F2 stocks and then a passenger ride in a custom F1.

I race the v8 hotstox which is below the f1 formula but where a lot of the f1 drivers originated from especially both the smiths.
This is my first season in this formula and i plan to do a couple more and then maybe move on up in to the f1s.

As you can see the car shape is similar but we are restricted to leaf springs rather than coilovers and smaller tyres. i run transit front axle and a shortened volvo 740 rear axle with a 4 speed gearbox from an old bedford cf.

Our power comes from rover v8 engines, im currently running a 3.5 fully worked to the rule book which alone can cost 5k plus. its not hard to go daft and spend stupid money on racing these things.

Here is a pic of the car.

Racing is free, it costs about £60 a year for your license and then we pay £5 at each meeting to help the club to buy things such as scales etc. also every driver gets himself plus one mechanic in free to every meeting.

Im currently getting the car ready for skegness on monday and tuesday after taking a big hit 2 weeks ago at hednesford where i was knocked unconsious and was taken away in an ambulance.

The chassis was bent and the seat buckled a bit but after a bit of jigging and a new £750 seat we are nearly ready to go again.
