the meachnical parts are nothing to buy really, its the R+D you are paying for from the people who have already destroyed motors getting it to make the numbers reliably.

e.g new head from cosworth will cost you no more that £5.5K when you have paid to buy it/mod it and build it.
A new block bare cast to your specs £2.5k, crankshaft £1500, rods £1000, pistons £600, turbo £1500, then add in all the bits you need, still no where near £80k !.

its all in the labour and development costs you will be paying for, and rightly so.

Am sure i read somewhere that the new engine in the scs escort, which is very near 800hp, can be built for £28k.

Surely if its already been done on more than one occasion then you don't need much research and development? Can't you just follow whats already been done with say Rod's engine or Martin's

Rod est would be from a stock car, a 800hp engine would be around 25k depending on spec, but to make it a reliable car you need to add a whole lot more around the engine.

To make it reliable is in the detail and not the released spec so you just cant copy whats posted.

Slightly more than my engine then. So hes on standard brakes, Suspension his he & he must have a good standard box to handle that Power .
Im impressed by his accleration times & their was me thinking he had uprated a few bits.

Rod thats not what the post was about, he did not ask about a whole package, only about aquiring the HP, one had to assume he already had the required package to handle the required output

It dont stop thats the point. The Spec of mine has changed cant tell you why or how cos i will get killed but Marks moving on all the time. My Turbo is now old hat & Marks testing others if successfull it will go on mine.
The released Spec of mine shall we say dont tell the whole truth, why would it.

I meant the engine on its own.But i didnt expect nothing other than a reply like that from you.SCs just build an engine aiming for 720hp first time around and it makes virtualy 800hp on race fuel, and they make no fuss and bother about it like some people.Enough said.

Sorry I didn't mean it like to just copy what you would see in a tech panel of a mag or something, I was trying to say like if he came to you asking for an engine of that spec you could use the methods used when building Rods engine and the other engines you have built, if you see what I'm trying to say.

Running 2.9bar for 1 year ( it dont have a low boost setting) just shy of 5k miles now & still going strong is there anything else you wish to know about running a 850bhp car on the road.

cosworth yb division one rallycross engine on ebay only 543bhp but 920Nm torque.
bargain at £52,580. (i would want free delivery though)
not bad to fit to a 20 year old car.

Are we any closer to getting 800bhp from of the shelf parts? What I meant when I posted on here a while ago is if a customer went to MAD or reyland and asked for an engine like Rods/Hadlands etc then it won't be to big a job? I mean Mark built Rods engine so surely he could do it again for another customer?

I have 3 engines on the go with that spec, So its not a problem to do more and they all have the upgrades we have learnt on Rods and its testing.
