Danneth... is £1000 enough for a semi decent one?
The Sony cost me £1600 five years ago
First 40inch LCD tho I believe, hence price.

Why go from 40" to 42"? Not much of a step up. Might aswel at least go to a 50" - 42" is a bit small

Thrush - 50 inch would be way to big for the size of the room.
42 would be just right I reckon..
Will check out link Danneth, thanks.
What are considered best 42..? LCD or Plasma. I watch music channels and occasionally play PS3 if that makes any difference.

You should have gone to a shop where they had them set up right then, and LED is LCD
as for ms thats lag LCD is known for been no where near as good as plasma for gaming
the review over on AV summed it up right with this statement in the conclusion - "If you have made it this far and just finished the last paragraph you will quite rightly assume I can’t recommend this screen for those who want the very best in picture performance"
and thats with a £1600 samsung LED they rate them as very average on the whole...

i was very close to buying an lcd but after seeing a hi end lcd next to the panasonic g20 in curry's my choice was made,
the colours on plasma'a are so much better, plus the panasonic is 600hz so motion blur is non exsistant.
LCD tv's look unrealalistic to me, almost cartoon like. plasma for me every time

LED tv's are LCD screens, only difference is the screen is back lit with LEDS.
only advantage i can see is power consumption, no improvement in picture quality at all imo

I got a Panny TX-P50G20B about a month ago. It's awesome, got it from Costco. Easily the best looking picture out of all of them, there were about 30 on show at the time.
I've finished running it in and it looks great.

Pioneer would be nice but the price tag renders it a pipe dream for me. Sure there are other manufacturers that can produce the goods but in my experience Pany sets are the best "sensible" price TV. Just my opnion though and appreciate others may feel differently
