never had an I phone so cant really compare but yeah theyre spot on, the new froyo update allows you to store apps on the sd card which was my only gripe previously. Also allows HD video recording and a few other things. Apps arent really free as at the moment the android scene isnt as big as it will surely become so few sources for such things. All in good time I should imagine.

mine came with 4gb card from vodafone/carphone whorehouse, vids pics and now 'most' apps stored on there. Just looked in market and the national rail app weighs in at Ł4.99!!! Not sure if theres a free alternative anywhere.

I also had an iphone the 3gs beofre i got my desire and this is wayyy better than the i phone.Have debranded my desire now though so can save all apps to sd card (which means an umlimited amount) Had a look at the new samsung galaxy android phone which is similar to the desire but seems to have a bigger/better screen.Only thing that i would say that lets the desire down is the battery life.

I cant decide between the two at the moment, tbh think I may go for for the iphone, due to apps screen resoulotion and the fact I can sync itunes etc plus look better. although the original outlay of the iphone puts me off as I can get the desire free.

there all free! if you download the barcode scanner you can just scan the code off your monitor and it will save the app to your phone.

Just added it to my phone to check and its free on that site mate
see those little bar codes you just scan them with the phone then plug phone into usb and it sends it straight to it and installs it.Very quick and easy.

When you get your phone and switch it on you will see 'market' from here you can download free and paid apps.Go to search and type in bar code scanner and it will come up (there are several) all free. Nope no modifying to do.The only thing if you want apps to sd and dont want to wait for the update is to 'root' your phone, similar to jailbreaking your i phone. This way you can store as many games and apps as you like.Have over 200 on mine now

thanks Jamie
I'll see how I get on a to feel up 32GB of apps would be difficult I assume... If I do, then I will have to have a go at modifying it...
Guess what my new post will be in a few weks
So by rooting the phone, all it does is allow you to store stuff on SD card as opposed to the inbuilt memory?
But you still get carcked / free apps without modifying it... nice

make sure it is insured!
within our company we have got through about 50 of these between 10 members of staff
Biggest problem is the screens go blank
Excellent when they work tho.

Press menu, then settings, about phone and the top option is system update, choose that and it should find it. In theory it should do it without prompting but I had to make mine look for it.

Heres a good site that gives all the info on how to root your phone. Also gives you access to custom roms.
