Default oil covered spark plugs :(

First of all, Hi everyone im new here

Secondly,

I was given a tired 1.8 escort si
Let me start by saying the car is thought to have done almost 300,000 miles!
I pulled the plugs to replace them.. when I pulled the ht lead from cyl 1 i noticed it was full of oil, as was cyl 2 & cyl 4 ... cyl 3 was dry

Im hoping this is all to do with the rocker cover gasket.. but as you will see the actual parts that go into the engine are a bit shocking too! also, all those deposits on the thread!!!! (perhaps the plugs look so bad cause the oil dripped down as i was removing them)

1st plug as i removed it (the worst)

probably down to worn rings, a comp will probably tell you the same thing

at the end of the day, if it still runs alright then dont worry about it; i personally woulndnt of even bothered changing the plugs

do zetec's not have rubber O rings on the underside of the rocker cover round the spark plug holes to stop this ?. forgot to put mine in when i changed the rocker covers on mine, and i got a bit of oil on the plugs till i fitted the O rings.

Thats probably just from the oil in the plug well that has soaked the plug when you pulled it out. Stick a new rocker cover gasket on and a new set of plugs and it'll be fine!

None of those plugs have been burning any appreciable amount of oil, they would be very covered in deposits if they had, just sort the r/c gasket.
