Default any idea's??? i'm on my 3rd abs pump in a year

what would cause my pumps to f**k up??? ist one went and we changed just the pump, not the whole thing... then i fried that one (no heatshield and some fast driving... then in traffic it fried) so fitted new pump and servo... and a heat shield.... now that one has died, there's power to the plug but no abs... both yellow lights on and handbrake light... solid pedal and very poor braking efficiency... (forgot to mention its a 3 door cossie, however i think it was a 2wd saff unit which has just given up, all was well for a little while, then on occasions the lights would come on for a bit (few mins) and then reset and go out, last night i went ace cafe in it, and we could smell a strange "hot" smell and the all abs lights on, never to go out!)) i'm gonna change it again tommo for another 2wd saff item, any pointers??? what could be the reason i'm killing them??? any idea's welcome.. by the way who can tell me wherer the abs relay is, i bought a new one but dunno which one it is on the car.... I've also got another 2wd ecu could it be this??? or wiring loom even???? We did notice that there is an earth wire bolted to the front which wasnt secured, could this cause it to draw too much current and therefore burn out??? clutching at straws i know, its just that i dont like replacing things and not knowing why they went. any ideas?? or do you think i've been unlucky and fitted fauly parts each time? thanks in advance

heat kills them, totally fries the internals and wiring

make sure you wrap the new one up with plenty of heat proof wrap and tape and stuff

if there's power to the pump, but a hard pedal (ie pump not working), then it would seem that there isn't a pump earth

if the pump isn't working, the system pressure will drop, and the 2 dash lights will come on

check the wiring loom before condemning the pump etc

change the fluid for starters, then see what happens

remember you need to have the ignition on to pump the rear lines with fluid with the pump
