half fill an old dustbin with water and place it under the fence where the cat would normally jump down, stratejically put the lid on so it flips round when the cat jumps on it, my grandad drowned many a cat this way!

try cat repellant capsules / crystals from your local pet shop or hardware store, but you need to replenish them regular in rainy weather, but sometimes once the cat has got used to them being there they go and tudd elsewhere.
if you can catch the cat in the act a few times and chase it aggressively it might stop it, but some cats are quite stubborn.
my dad used to cut up hose pipe in lengths of approx 3" and scatter them in the borders, it sounded like an old wives tail to me but it did work!
or get your own cat...

The only time they'll cause damage is if you try and push them off or scare them, as then they'll get there claws out to hang on.

They scratch the fuck out of my car along the tops of the doors, they use their claws to jump on on the roof then up onto the wall that runs along the side of my drive.
Saw a dead cat at the side of the road this morning, thought of this thread and had a little chuckle

These threads always make me laugh, all the "hard men" that say things like shoot it, drop kick it, poison it etc. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? Would you actually do anything like that or is it just to make yourselves sound tough? We've got 3 cats which mainly stay indoors and have NEVER shit or pissed outside, have you ever thought of actually going round your neighbours house to discuss it maybe, then if you get no joy, contacting the council or environmental health about it? Then maybe you wouldn't have to report to killing or injuring a defenceless animal just because its owners are irresponsible. Karl

Do you know what? For those that reckon killing the cat is the way, do you not understand that it is someones pet? You absolute bunch of horrible cunts. For those with kids, imagine if they had a cat and one of your neighbours killed it? Wouldn't be so funny then, would it? Or any of their pets for that matter.
There are plenty of humane ways to deter cats and I hope if any of you resort to inhumane ways, that one day it comes round to haunt you. Perhaps your dog will get cancer, or pick up rat-poison or something.
Marigolds, cats hate them. I don't mean the rubber gloves either.
Regarding the damage to the cars, I've had 3 cats (sadly all got knocked down on the roads), but never have seen so much as a tiny scratch on any of my cars and they used to sit on there regularly. So, I reckon there's some shit-chatting going on there.

As for the children playing in it, perhaps consider buying the child some toys. I've never seen a cat shit in the middle of the grass, they shit in flower beds and bury it. So, if the child is digging around in the garden, then they obviously have nothing better to do.

Very true, but like I say, why not talk to your neighbour about it, tell them if they dont sort it out you'll contact environmental health about it, get evidence, pics, videos etc, and then they'll have to do something about it, like maybe keeping it indoors or something.

I know what you're saying but all 3 of ours are indoor cats, and its not a problem, we do let them out but we've kind of penned the garden off so they're restricted to our property. That way they dont bother anyone else, and maybe its because they're used to being indoors but when they do want the loo, they go in the house and use the litter trays, not one of them has ever done anything outside. I know this maybe not be possible some people and then, I agree, deterrents are the answer, it just annoys me when people come out with daft comments about shooting, poisoning them etc. Karl
