Flow trough the intercooler is improved also due to the entrance in to it being much better as its not hitting a dead stop entrance to the intercooler on the current 500intercoolers I can see a lot of copies coming out in the near future.

mark would this type of intercooler have such a large impact on cars running between 400 to 500 bhp
Mark
Without doubt I was mapping a Escort on a GT3071 and this was running inlet temps of over 50c on a tub and fin one,
If you look at the Intercooler giving you a large chunk of power at topspeed for all of £250 over the cost of the normal type one.

It was made like that as you will struggle to get a tube and fine that wide and you will loose strength of the core being that wide, This is another plus for the bar and plate as it is inherently stronger so more boost can be used.

does thta mean the ah and radtec ones i have should be in the for sale section,as the specr one will keep my temps down thus adding a bit on longevity to my 205 block 450/500 bhp engine to be in g88 mark?

The others are still good set ups but IMO the new Spec R one has moved the game on some what.

Yes the full 2.6bar no point in testing at lower than full boost

James,

Watch this space. I MAY put one on mine if Mark reckons the gains would be worth it.

Was only messing mate. I agree about selling the escort as it would have killed you or made you bankrupt but the Evo was a proper lovely car and if it ended up at 500/600 bhp you would have loved it

Rod,

A chunk more speed is good for you as then you can retire from this top speed lark knowing it cant be beaten easily, and take life at a more sedate pace

Porkie:

How long you had that clio now. 5 months or so is it? so that's approx £4k per month you spend on it. Give it a year and it will be the uk's most expensive clio

thats some impressive spending there porkie!

can gains be seen with these intercoolers at lower amounts of boost say 1.6 to 1.8bar!
dont mind spending the extra assuming they are ore efficient, could probably get away with a smaller cooler!

Ok I'm tempted by a change of cooler, that inlet sweep is superb, uncompromised. Love it! Is there one recommended for a stg 3 cossie by spec-R with the bar and plate core and swept tank tubes but it doesn't need to be quite so thick does it?

Dave, the CSLs are a lot more money, and you wont really notice that much improvement unless youre already driving the normal one near its limits.

stick with the normal one, drive it like you stole it and then when you write it off just buy another one and STILL be better off moneywise than if you bought a CSL
