if it had worn rings it would go but not very well at all,

Depends which ring.

Oil scraper ring then yes it probabaly would run smooth.

yes quite possbile, i had one in for a re build not long ago that ran ok, but blew oil everywhere out the breathers, and that had quite a few broken rings

It could do yes but it will lead to other problems like bore damage very quickly if the damaged ring or rings are scrapping the bore! u may get low compression on that cylinder u may get piston blow by leading to oil being blown out the breather and it may oil smoke!
