Default Untaxed Vehicle

My Rs Turbo is stored in a unit I can no longer afford. It needs to be removed by Monday. The problem being it has no tax and as it wont be getting used in the coming months I don't really wish to tax it. Its only a short drive through country roads to where I will be putting it. I don't know if its worth the risk trying to move it without taxing it. Its declared off road, what is the possible outcomes if I get caught?

Having no tax isn't an endorsable offence (i.e. points on licence) so it's not the end of the world if you get stopped. Having no insurance is however (up to 6 points), and I'm guessing that if it's untaxed and sitting in a unit it's not insured?

Car will be taken away. My mate got stopped the other day with No MOT TAX INSURANCE OR SEATBELT, he got £60 fine was very lucky. Not worth the risk id say. Get someone to tow you!

In the dark, short drive across quiet country roads you'll probably be okay, but there's obviously always a risk.

bit pointless!!! if ur car has any wheels on the road then it has to have tax, unless its on a low loader you'll still get tugged as if u were driving it yourself!!!

I had the same problem years ago when i tried to use the RAC to tow my car to a garage that wasnt taxed, hoped they would send a low loader but sent a van with tow bar who checked the tax and point black refused to take it unless i was willing to pay for cost for a low loader!! Was worth a try anyway

I would defo just drive it if you get stopped which is unlikely the old bill will know its insured & mot'd when they do there number plate check, id just tell them that ur going postoffice in the morn but as said BEFORE BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY also not sure if ur insurance would pay out if anythin untoward happened on the way!! maybe get some1 to toe it for u or as said before trailer it

Cheapest and easiest way would probably be to tax it for 6 months then get a refund for the 5 months remaining. Either that or as said, book it in for an mot, aslong as where you will be storing the car is on the way to your mot centre!

That what I was thinking. I'd loath to give the government 1 months tax just for it being on the road for 20 minutes!!!!! Gonna go down all country roads as well. Motor will only be on main road for a matter of minutes. I remember the days when they used to give you a little lee way!!! Their proper on it now!! I mean fair play if you are driving around all the time with no tax, but all I want to do is move it from my unit to my dads garage and leave it there. Can't afford to run the bloody thing at the moment and it still ain't set up.
