he smoked, he got cancer, he died. that's what happens.
You could claim that for almost everything. 'He sped, he crashed, he died. That's what happens'. It doesn't alter the fact that someone has passed away.
It appears everyone is wrong, found this in a article that Jimmy White said
"In the end it wasn't cancer that killed him, the cancer had gone, he died from lack of nourishment, how sickening is that?
'Unfortunately Alex was his own man and he just wouldn't listen to anyone. He was a very picky eater, one sandwich a day, he never ate much.
'His sister Jean would bring food round, make a roast dinner and put it in a blender, but it was hard work to get him to eat anything. Higgins was in a catch 22, he didn't like food very much and couldn't eat because he had no teeth.'
Higgins was known to have battled problems with alcohol and smoking throughout his life, but White insisted his drinking problem was exaggerated.
'Alex was never a big drinker, it's a load of rubbish what has been said about him,' he said.
'But he did have six, maybe seven, halves of Guinness at the local pub and, if anything, it was the Guinness that probably kept him alive this long.'
sounds like he didn't have any teeth because of smoking, so that probably did kill him.
Wrong, he lost them due to alot of radiotherapy to treat his throat cancer, but i guess it was down to smoking that he lost them, but not directly from it
I just also read that he was living in sheltered housing and on benefits? not sure why, he got millions playing snooker
You have clearly read about it as you posted the JW stuff above. You also clearly like following snooker.
How you managed to miss in EVERY report that it's reputed he made and LOST Ł3M is beyond me.
I read a couple of articles on different sites, not one said he lost everything, i knew he liked the drink and smoked alot, i didnt know he lost millions..............
How would it be common knowledge, the guy hasnt played on BBC tv for how many years? ive only been watching snooker for 4-5 years.
Hes played in ireland recently and for the last few years, but not on BBC and also ive never even seen him in the crowd or commentating OR being interviewed like many of the old players have been, so unless i actually look for the info on him personally im not going to know am i
