Blonde moment! Quick answer please
Hi all,
This must be the most basic question i've asked on a public forum in my life!
Why does the spark plug socket say 10mm on the side if it fits a plug thats roughtly 15mm!?
I'm trying to order a leakdown tester, and aware i must get the correct size fittings and this is holding me back.
Thanks in advance!
Tom

I always thought it related to the actual thread size for the spark plug?
So a 10mm spark plug socket will be 16mm A/F to suit the spark plug to fit it, but the spark plugs thread into the cylinder head will be 10mm for instance.
8mm Plug > 14mm Socket
10mm Plug > 16mm Socket
14mm Plug > 21mm Socket
So a 10mm spark plug socket will be 16mm A/F to suit the spark plug to fit it, but the spark plugs thread into the cylinder head will be 10mm for instance.
8mm Plug > 14mm Socket
10mm Plug > 16mm Socket
14mm Plug > 21mm Socket

8mm Plug > 14mm Socket
10mm Plug > 16mm Socket
14mm Plug > 21mm Socket

8mm Plug > 14mm Socket
10mm Plug > 16mm Socket
14mm Plug > 21mm Socket
That makes so much sense - i only looked briefly before work, and i couldn't get my verniers on the plug or remove it, wash my hands and get to work on time!
So if the leakdown tester suggests it fits 10,12 and 14mm plugs it must be referring to the plug size not the socket! Bingo - massive thank you!
Cheers
Tom
